Day 1
Transfer from the airport to the hotel
You will arrive in Bujumbura at the Melchior Ndadaye International Airport. Depending on your arrival time, you will meet our company representative, who will welcome you to Burundi and brief you on your trip. You will then proceed to the hotel for a relaxing overnight stay. Day 2
Gishora Drum Sanctuary and Karera Waterfall tour
Today, after your African breakfast, you will be driven to visit the Karera Waterfalls. This spectacular series of waterfalls is located to the south of Rutana in southeastern Burundi. The falls occupy over 142 hectares and comprise 6 branches divided into 3 landings. After that, return to Gitega city and have lunch. You will then visit the Gishora Drum Sanctuary to experience a unique, traditional performance. You will meet the team of famous drummers who will explain about this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Attend the fascinating show, which takes around an hour and combines the sound of the drumbeat with dances, heroic poetry and traditional songs. Day 3
Boat cruise, city tour and transfer back to the hotel or airport
After a relaxed breakfast, you will depart at 8:30 am to start your Bujumbura city tour. Enjoy the boat ride in the Rusizi National Park on the Rusizi River to Lake Tanganyika to see hippos, birds and crocodiles. You will also visit the Living Museum and return to town for lunch.
