Day 1
Flight to Masai Mara
We’ll pick you up at your hotel, residence, the Nairobi airport, or the location of your choice for a short ride to Wilson Airport. Then, you’ll board your plane for the approximately one-hour scenic flight to the Masai Mara. Taking to the air, you’ll have a stunning vantage point over the sprawling Kenyan landscape. Along your route, look for the iconic form of Mount Kilimanjaro and the dramatic escarpment of the Great Rift Valley. You will arrive at Serena Airstrip, where you will be picked up by our driver-guide for your first game drive in the park as you head to the lodge. After check-in and lunch, you will then head out for another three-hour game drive in the afternoon in search of the Big Five and other predators. Dinner and overnight at the lodge will follow. Day 2
Masai Mara
Wake up early at the break of dawn and head out for an early morning game drive. It’s a great time for game viewing as it is cool and the wildlife is just emerging into the awakening day. The Masai Mara is home to all of Africa’s ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. However, there are also many other mammal species in the great park – over ninety-five. Should you be visiting the Mara during the great migration season (July – October), get ready to witness a virtual flood of wildlife crossing over the Mara River from the neighboring Serengeti. Tens of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelle pour into the park on their annual trek searching for higher grasses. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge. Day 3
Masai Mara
On this second day, you can discuss your plan for the day with your guide. What areas of the reserve have you not yet seen? Which wildlife would you like to see more of? After breakfast, you can head out for a full-day adventure with a packed lunch. There are other aspects of the park that will enhance your experience. Take an optional visit to one of the local Maasai villages. You’ll get to meet these indigenous people and learn about their culture up close. Just ask your guide to make the arrangements. Have you ever done a sky safari? For the ultimate Mara adventure, take an optional pre-dawn hot-air balloon flight over the park. You’ll rise with the sun, literally, as below, the reserve comes alive with the light and wildlife. It's a never-to-be-forgotten adventure. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge. Day 4
Flight back to Nairobi
On this last day, you will wake up, have breakfast and spend time at the accommodation at leisure. You can even spot some wildlife from the lodge/camp. After soaking in enough of the serenity and beauty of the park, check out from the lodge with a final game drive out of the park, then head to the airport for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi. In an hour's time, you will reach the city under the sun. You will then be transferred to your next destination of choice within the city or the airport for your onward flight. The combination of Kenyan safari and Diani Beach really made our trip a dream, and we booked Kinfolks Africa Adventures, a renowned Kenyan company, to organize the trip perfectly.
