Day 1
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or Johannesburg Airport. Sit back and enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Pilanesberg National Park, passing through striking South African landscapes and rich biodiversity along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your luxury lodge—Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge or Tshukudu Bush Lodge—each offering an exceptional blend of comfort and wilderness in the heart of the reserve. In the afternoon, embark on your first guided safari at 3:00 p.m., where experienced rangers will lead you through open plains and along key waterholes teeming with wildlife. As the sun sets, marvel at golden skies and spot the Big 5—elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards—in their natural habitat. After a thrilling introduction to the African bush, return to the lodge to enjoy a gourmet dinner and unwind in the peaceful surroundings of the reserve. With the rising sun casting its light across the bushveld, the park awakens—offering incredible sightings and photo opportunities. Return to the lodge for a well-earned breakfast, followed by leisure time to relax, enjoy the lodge facilities, or simply soak in the serenity of the African wilderness. Afternoon Safari: After a delicious lunch and some rest, prepare for your second safari of the day at 3:00 p.m. Explore different routes through the park, increasing your chances of encountering a variety of wildlife. Stop by waterholes where animals gather in the cooler hours and capture the glowing African sunset before heading back. Conclude the day with a sumptuous dinner and a night under the stars, listening to the distant sounds of nature.
