Day 1
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be met by your driver-guide and receive a brief introduction to your journey. You’ll then set off on a three-hour drive northwest to the town of Musanze, traveling through Rwanda’s scenic highlands and rural landscapes. Upon arrival, you’ll check in at La Palme Hotel, conveniently located about 30 minutes from Volcanoes National Park. You'll enjoy dinner and a restful overnight stay. Mid-range guest house located less than 1hr drive from Volcanoes NP (Gorillas) Dinner (Breakfast & lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 2
You'll wake up early for breakfast, and by 6:30 am, depart for Kinigi, home to Volcanoes National Park headquarters. Upon arrival around 7:00am, you'll be welcomed by park staff, assigned to a trekking group, and receive a safety briefing and introduction from your expert ranger guide. You'll then set off into the forest in search of one of Rwanda’s habituated mountain gorilla families. Each group is visited by a maximum of eight people, and the trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas' location, as they roam across large territories within the park. Your guide and trackers will lead the way, clearing paths and sharing insights into the forest ecosystem as you hike. Once located, you’ll spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat—a deeply moving and memorable experience. After the trek, you will return to the lodge to relax and reflect on this once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Mid-range guest house located less than 1hr drive from Volcanoes NP (Gorillas) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 3
After breakfast, you'll head back to the park headquarters for your second primate experience—tracking the endangered golden monkey. This morning trek is generally easy and lasts between 1 to 2 hours. Golden monkeys are endemic to the Virunga Mountains and are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List. These lively primates live in large groups of up to 90 individuals, often led by a dominant male. You'll visit one of the habituated troops, including a sizeable group located near the base of Mount Sabyinyo. As with gorilla trekking, visitors are allowed to spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat. Following the trek, you'll return to the lodge for a relaxed afternoon. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge. Mid-range guest house located less than 1hr drive from Volcanoes NP (Gorillas) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and depart for Kigali at 9:00 AM. Upon arrival, you will enjoy lunch at Pilipili, a popular local restaurant known for its relaxed atmosphere and diverse menu. After lunch, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your outbound air transfer. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

5.0/5Exploring Rwanda’s cultural roots was truly enriching! From the King’s Palace Museum to the Ethnographic Museum, every stop offered powerful insight and learning. I had the pleasure of experiencing it all with 49 students—and as a teacher, I found myself learning just as much. We wrapped up the day with a lovely lunch and great conversations. Special thanks to Gorille Africain Tours for their smooth coordination—highly recommended for school trips and educational tours!

What a day to remember in Kigali! I had the joy of exploring this beautiful city with 50 of my amazing students. We visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum, strolled through the serene Nyandungu Eco Park, and enjoyed a delicious lunch and guided tour at Umusambi Village — a perfect blend of history, nature, and reflection. Beyond our own tour, I also had the pleasure of coordinating several school trips with Gorille Africain Tours — and every single one was smooth, enriching, and professionally handled. Highly recommend them for educational and group experiences. Truly an exceptional experience from start to finish!
