Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, our team will welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. Take some time to rest and refresh after your flight. If time permits, enjoy a brief city introduction or unwind at the hotel to start your Ethiopian journey comfortably. Fly Addis Ababa – Semera
Early morning flight from Addis Ababa to Semera or Mekelle, the main gateways to the Danakil Depression. Upon arrival, meet your Danakil guide and 4WD team. Begin the drive toward the Danakil region. Visit Lake Afdera and observe traditional salt mining and camel caravans. Overnight in a basic lodge or camping site near the Danakil area. Day 3
Danakil Depression – Dallol & Salt Flats
Early start to explore Dallol, one of the hottest and lowest places on Earth. Discover colorful sulfur springs, salt pillars, and geothermal landscapes. Walk across the salt flats and learn about the Afar people’s salt extraction traditions. Return to camp or lodge in the afternoon. Overnight in the Danakil region. Optional Erta Ale Volcano or Return Drive
Early morning drive toward Erta Ale Volcano (optional and subject to security and physical condition). Short hike to the crater to see the lava lake. If Erta Ale is not included, enjoy further exploration of the Danakil landscapes. Drive back to Semera or Mekelle in the afternoon. Overnight in hotel.
