Chameleons, lizards, frogs, snakes, butterflies and sifaka lemurs are just some of the creatures you can encounter here. In the afternoon, continue to the Mitsinjo Reserve, home to chameleons, snakes, birds, and most importantly, the largest species of lemur, the Indri. Day 3
Depart in the morning and drive to Antsirabe, passing through scenic mountains, rolling hills and rice fields. After about 7.5 hours, arrive in this colorful highland town, known as “The City of Water” for its hot springs. Explore the town's highlights by rickshaw, Madagascar's iconic mode of transport. In the city centre, visit the Fahaleovantena Tribes Monument, a symbol of independence that displays the first two bars of Madagascar's national anthem. Continue to the historic Gare d’Antsirabe, a colonial-era train station built in 1923. Although no longer in use, its striking architecture remains a landmark that attracts many visitors. End the day at the Antsirabe Cathedral, also known as Notre Dame de la Salette. Founded in 1908 and dedicated in 1931, this impressive Catholic church stands proudly in the centre of town. Day 4
After breakfast, continue your journey towards the capital of the baobab tree. En route, stop in Miandrivazo, a town located between Morondava and Antsirabe, for lunch. Known as the hottest place in Madagascar, Miandrivazo offers a striking contrast to the cooler highlands. From here, proceed to Morondava on the west coast, a town famous for its river delta and, above all, its iconic baobab trees. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at your hotel. Day 5
After breakfast at the hotel, walk to the port to begin the day's adventure. In Morondava, board a boat to explore the mangrove forest before crossing to the other side of the river to visit a traditional fishing village. In the afternoon, enjoy free time at the iconic Avenue of the Baobabs, where you can wander among the towering trees and end the day with a spectacular sunset on the coastal horizon. Day 6
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight back to the capital. The final leg of your journey takes you through the rolling central highlands, with time to explore some of Antananarivo's most famous landmarks. Visit the Rova — Le Palais de la Reine — the Queen's palace, built around 1610 and perched at the highest point of the city. Continue to Lake Anosy, one of the oldest man-made lakes, created under King Andrianampoinimerina. You will also visit the historic Gare de Soarano, the city's oldest train station, where colonial architecture meets the bustle of modern life. Later in the day, transfer to the airport for your international departure. Say farewell to Madagascar — a genuine island, and truly a world apart.
