Overview
The Chogoria Route is our recommended and arguably the most magnificent ascent route to the summit area. It is the driest route up the mountain. The walk beside the Gorges Valley is truly spectacular. The descent by the Sirimon Route will take you through some beautiful forest tracks and complete the traverse of the mountain. Accommodation on this trek is camping. You will be rewarded with a 60-minute massage and pedicure at one of the Spa back in Nairobi after the trip.

Day 1
Nairobi - Chogoria Gate
You will depart from Nairobi at 7:00 am, driving through the agricultural country to Chogoria town for lunch. After lunch, you will take a 4x4 and drive up to the edge of the bamboo forest, where you will start trekking through the dense bamboo forest for a distance of 10km up to Mount Kenya Bandas. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the Chogoria Gate Camp. Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 2
Chogoria Gate to Lake Ellis Camp
After breakfast and sorting of porter loads, you will set off up the mountain at a nice and easy pace. A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic views of Mugi, Ithanguni, and the Giants Billiards Table. At the same time, if you follow the river near the road and head upstream for about 3km, the foreground scenery and flora are breathtaking. You will have lunch on the banks of a stream. Afterwards, you will cut up on the left-hand hillside to your camp at about 3,600m, well away from any of the more "touristy" areas. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 3
Lake Ellis to Mintos Hut
You will have an early start. Again, you will walk well off the beaten track to follow a ridge up the mountain for about 3 hours and eventually join the tourist track on the regular Chogoria route at an altitude of about 4,100m. You will experience breathtaking views over the Gorges Valley and back towards Ithanguni and the Northern Moorlands. Your lunch will be served at a small stream crossing before continuing for an additional hour to the Mintos Hut area at 4200m and our night's rest. The afternoon is spent relaxing at camp, though a 10-minute walk to the "temple" is well worth the effort. This is a 150m vertical cliff that got its name from the position visitors often adopt when peering over the edge—they look as if they are praying. Day 4
Mintos Camp- Austrian Hut
Today, you will begin your trek ascending along the foot of massive rock walls. From the top, you'll have an excellent view of Mt. Kenya. After ascending for a few hours, you will reach Tooth Col. From there, you will traverse until you reach the Austrian Hut for dinner and an overnight stay. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 5
Austrian Camp - Pt Lenana - Liki North Camp
You will leave at 5:00 am for a pre-dawn attempt, climbing for 1 hour across bare rock and slopes characteristic of the alpine region up to Pt Lenana—the hiker's summit. You will arrive just in time to catch the African sunrise. You'll then descend to Shipton's Camp for breakfast and a short rest. After breakfast, you will begin a 3-4-hour descent via Mackinder's Valley to Liki North camp (3,900 m). The descent is gentle and offers ample time to enjoy fascinating scenery which includes the moorlands, before reaching the camp. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 6
Liki North Camp - Nairobi
After an early morning breakfast, you will descend for 3 hours up to Old Moses Camp to catch a vehicle for transfer to Nairobi. You will arrive late in the afternoon. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Perfect trip
A 6 day hike at Mt Kenya was very well organised, well managed and a wonderful experience. Best tour operator to visit Masai Mara
Keishi tour was by far the cheapest luxury solution to visit Masai Mara I found online, and it was perfect.
