Your journey launches with a pick-up from any Johannesburg or Pretoria hotel or address between 5:30 and 7:00 AM, arriving at Pilanesberg National Park by 9:00 AM. You will check into Ivory Tree Game Lodge and savor a gourmet lunch overlooking the bushveld. At 4:00 PM, head out for a 3-hour sunset game drive in a 10-seater open safari vehicle, seeking the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo). Return to Ivory Tree for a lavish breakfast, then enjoy leisure time to relax by the sparkling pool, pamper yourself at the Amani Spa, or try activities like archery or drumming. Savor a gourmet lunch at 1:00 PM, then join a 2-hour game drive in a closed vehicle (minivan) through the reserve, seeking more of the “Big Five”. Wake up early for hot beverages and then depart for a 3-hour sunrise game drive in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Return for a satisfying breakfast. Pack up and be ready for collection between 11:00 and 11:30 AM for a closed vehicle (minivan) game drive in the reserve. Depart mid-afternoon between 3 and 3:15 PM for the return journey to Johannesburg. You will arrive at Southern Sun O.R. Tambo by 6:00 PM. Our first Big 5 Safari Tour was nothing short of incredible! From the very start, the excitement was unreal and it only got better with every moment out in the wild. Seeing lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo in their natural habitat was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide Martin was knowledgeable, passionate and made the whole experience even more special. It’s something we’ll never forget, truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! But we will repeat it as we still have to „hunt“ leopard 🐆 hehe
