Andasibe is the best place to observe the Indris and learn more about them, as several legends are trying to explain its origins since it is considered a sacred animal in the whole of Madagascar. Apart from the Indri, there are other lemur species in the forest, such as the woody lemur, grey bamboo lemur, diademed sifaka, brown lemur, red mouse-lemur, red-bellied lemur, black and white ruffed lemur, and even aye-aye. You'll have lunch at noon and afterward, enjoy the lemurs' personal experience up close with a visit to the Vakona Reserve Zoo to see the many crocodiles in the huge river enclosure, native birds, and other wildlife in well-kept surroundings. Day 4
After breakfast, you will leave Andasibe by driving back up to Antsirabe, lunch on the spot. Antsirabe is a city in the highlands of Madagascar, capital of the Vakinankaratra region, in the center of the island. It is the third largest city in Madagascar, with an urban area estimated at 257,163 inhabitants. The city was founded by the Norwegian Lutheran missionary Thorkild Guttormsen Rosaas (1841-1913). In 1872, a high station was established to serve as a retreat center due to the cooler climate on the island. The thermal baths were opened in 1917. The springs of thermal water and their virtues were discovered, according to some by T.G. Rosaas (Thorkild Guttormsen Rosaas) himself, according to others, in 1900, by Captain Roland Cadet (1861-1934), attracting people of illustrious families. Possessing rich volcanic soil, the Antsirabe region is one of the productive regions of the island. The city of Antsirabe has now become one of the most important industrial centers in the country.
