Day 1
Your safari will begin with our guide picking you up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Entebbe. Thereafter, you will transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via the Kampala–Luwero–Masindi route, with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch to track the white rhinos in the wild, followed by a lunch break. You will then proceed to the top of the falls in Murchison Falls National Park for a waterfall experience and finally drive to the lodge to retire for your overnight stay. Total travel time today is 4–5 hours. Budget lodge located inside Murchison Falls NP Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 2
Have breakfast by 6:00 am and thereafter proceed into the wilderness in search of the early morning risers, with the morning game drive starting at about 6:30 am. Look out for animals such as giraffes, lions, hyenas, waterbucks, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes, as well as many species of birds including egrets, ibis, shoebill stork, marabou stork, and kingfishers. During the game drive, you may relax and enjoy a picnic on the riverbank while listening to the groans of the hippos. After a lunch break, proceed for an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River. This cruise is spectacular as it allows you to get up close to aquatic animals such as hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, buffaloes, and elephants. Birds commonly sighted during the boat cruise include the goliath heron, kingfisher, weaver birds, bee-eaters, and cattle egrets, along with beautiful scenery along the riverbanks. Be sure to take photos as you return to the boat launch point. Budget lodge located inside Murchison Falls NP All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 3
After breakfast, transfer to Fort Portal on a seven-hour drive. Enjoy the jaw-dropping scenery and landscapes en route, including views of the Great Rift Valley, before proceeding to Hoima. Have a hot lunch break along the way. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge in Fort Portal, then spend some time relaxing prior to your overnight stay. Mid-range hotel located in Kasese (Town) All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 4
Have an early morning breakfast and then check out of your accommodations to begin your travel to Kasese. The drive takes about two hours. Rwenzori mountain climbing via the Central Circuit Trail starts at the Rwenzori Mountains National Park Mihunga Gate. Your driver-guide will drive you to the gate for the trip briefing and equipment organization. You will then begin your ascent of the “Mountains of the Moon.” The trail begins by passing through farmland to the park boundary, beyond which it follows thick forest along the Mubuku River. Cross the Mahoma River tributary before starting a long, steep climb up onto a massive ridge to reach Nyabitaba Hut. During this part of the hike, you may hear chimpanzees and see black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and the brilliantly colored Rwenzori turaco. Hike duration: 6–7 hours. Elevation gain: 1,036 m. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 5
From Nyabitaba, you will follow the trail that drops down through the forest to the Kurt Shaffer Bridge, just below the confluence of the Mubuku and Bujuku rivers. Passing through the bamboo forest, traverse a long and exhausting stretch of slippery, moss-covered rock. From the Nyamuleju rock shelter, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke can be seen before passing into the zone of giant heather, lobelia, and groundsel. Finally, you will reach John Matte Hut after crossing the tiring bog. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the hut. Hike duration: 7–8 hours. Elevation gain: 854 m. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 6
From John Matte Hut, the trail drops down to cross the Bujuku River and enters the Lower Bigo Bog, home to giant lobelias. Jumping from tussock to tussock, the bog is eventually crossed, though rarely without feet sampling some of the freezing ooze below! The Upper Bigo Bog gives way to Bujuku Lake, with views of Mount Baker to the south and Mount Stanley to the west. Bujuku Hut, well located in the shadow of Mount Baker and Mount Speke, is set in a narrow valley below Stuhlmanns Pass. This camp is ideal for acclimatization for clients attempting the summits of Mount Stanley and Mount Speke. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the hut. Hike duration: 4–5 hours. Elevation gain: 457 m. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 7
Early in the morning, you will start the hike through Stuhlmanns Pass (4,192 m), enjoying spectacular views of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and continuing on to Vittorio Emanuele Peak (4,890 m). You will then prepare to descend back to Bujuku Camp from Vittorio Emanuele Peak, with views of the Bujuku Valley and Bujuku Lake, as well as Margherita and Albert Peaks on Mount Stanley and Mount Baker. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp. Ascent duration: 4–5 hours. Elevation gain: 230 m. Descent duration: 3–4 hours. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 8
Leaving Bujuku Camp, the trail continues through more bog, ascending the steep slopes west of the lake and passing through the magical forest of Groundsel Gully. Turn right to reach Elena Hut, located just below Mount Luigi di Savoia. The trail to the left leads to Scott-Elliot Pass and down to Kitandara Lakes Camp. Those not attempting Margherita Peak will descend for an overnight stay at Kitandara Camp, while climbers will have dinner and their overnight stay at the Elena Hut. Hike duration: 5–6 hours. Elevation gain: 579 m. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 9
Wake up very early at 2:00 am to attempt the climb to Margherita Peak, Mount Stanley’s highest point. The ascent takes approximately 4–5 hours, depending on weather conditions and climbing pace, covering an elevation gain of 568 m. This challenging trek crosses three glaciers, slippery rocks, ice, and exposed areas with open drops, including a traverse of the Stanley Plateau. Climbers must be prepared for fog, cold weather, and the effects of altitude while scrambling to the summit. The descent from Margherita Peak back to Elena Hut takes about 2–3 hours. After lunch at Elena Hut, continue descending through Scott-Elliot Pass at 4,372 m, offering spectacular views of Lake Bujuku and Mount Speke. The trail passes through an alpine zone of sparse vegetation and rough boulders, ending at Kitandara Hut for your overnight stay. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 10
From Kitandara, you will follow the trail that ascends steeply up the headwall from the base of Mount Baker. Continue along the south side of the mountain to Freshfield Pass at 4,282 m, where you can enjoy views into the Congo to the west and Mount Stanley to the north. From the pass, traverse the high alpine moss before descending along steep rocky trails to the rock shelter at Bujongolo, the historic base camp of the 1906 Duke of Abruzzi expedition. Your overnight stay will be at the Guy Yeoman Camp. Hike duration: 6–7 hours. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 11
From Guy Yeoman, the route descends the cliffs of Kichuchu. Beyond Kichuchu, the muddy path crosses the Mubuku River twice through a bamboo forest before continuing downward to Nyabitaba, completing the circuit. Descend back to Nyabitaba Camp and proceed to Mihunga Gate, where your driver-guide will meet you for your transfer to Kasese town for dinner and your overnight stay. Descent duration: 7–8 hours. Mid-range hotel located in Kasese (Town) All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 12
Have an early breakfast and then transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, a prime location to spot the famous tree-climbing lions. The drive takes approximately 2–3 hours. These lions are a rare sight and are found in only three locations (Queen Elizabeth, Kruger National Park in South Africa, and Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania). Enjoy lunch in the wild or in Ishasha before returning to the Kazinga Channel for a scenic boat cruise. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains or visit the Katwe salt mining village to experience traditional salt harvesting and view the flamingos on Lake Munyanyange. Later you will return to your hotel for dinner and your overnight stay. Mid-range lodge located just outside Queen Elizabeth NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 13
Have an early morning breakfast, then transfer to Kampala for another Uganda adventure or to Entebbe for your departure home. This marks the end of your 13-day Rwenzori Trekking and Uganda Wildlife Experience Safari with Bujuku Eco Tours. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

5.0/5Johnson was our guide and driver for our 12 days in Uganda. I had asked for specific activities for all our days. This was my 3rd time in Uganda. He helped plan every day, so it was full and exciting. Our days were planned to the maximum. I wanted to hike, explore the mountain trails, eat local fruits, visit my friends in Kasese and make a trip to the local hospital to visit a small child we support. Our 3 days of safari trips were wonderful. He even accommodated me when I asked if we could share our jeep with children we support. One morning on the way to Queen Elizabeth NP there was a man with his stranded motor bike standing on the side of the road. Johnson stopped and asked if he was OK. He told us it was not safe standing alone on the road near the QENP area. He offered to give the man enough gasoline to get him into town to the station. Many persons might not have stopped. I was very impressed with his willingness to help this person. He even offered to pay a bill for me because I did not have the correct amount. I cannot tell you how much I was impressed with this young man. I plan to see him for my next trip back to Uganda.

Excelent team and professional guides. Friendly people. Well managed. Clear communication and correct deal. Fast, faultless and flexible organisation and arrangement. We did a trek in January 2024 in Rwenzori mountains, started from Kasanzi region through camps of Kasanzi, Bekambo, Lami, John Maata hut, Elena hut to Margherita peak, then back to John Maata hut through Irene lake hut and out of the park along the Central cirquit, Bujuku and Mubuku river with lunch in Nyabitaba hut. 7 days, 6 nights in the mountains. We had 2 guides, cooks, porters and 2 rangers. Vladi, Czechia.
