Tour step
You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1
On your arrival at Addis Bole International Airport, you'll meet our team and take a drive to Awash National Park, which is about 230km from Addis. On arrival at the park, you will go for a game drive in the thorny bushes and grassland of Awash National Park, including a hike in the riverbank forest by the Awash River Falls. You have a chance to spot mammals such as the Salt’s dik-dik, lesser kudu, warthog, Hamadryas baboon, olive baboon, black-backed jackal, Abyssinian hare, Grivet monkey, Nile crocodiles on the shores of the river, and more wildlife with numerous bird species. Mid-range lodge located just outside Awash NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 2
After an early breakfast, you'll take a drive to Alideghi National Park. Here, you will have a game drive and scan the vast plain for gerenuk, Soemmerring’s gazelle, Grevy’s zebra, Grant’s gazelle, olive and Hamadryads baboons, Beisa oryx, African golden wolf, Somali ostrich, and more wildlife. Bird species include Abyssinian roller, Arabian bustard, kori bustard, carmine bee-eaters, and several raptors. At night, you will have a game drive for nocturnal mammals. Just outside Aledeghi WR All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 3
After an early morning game drive in the park, you'll have your breakfast and then set off for a long drive to Bale Mountains National Park, where you'll stay for the next 4 nights. You'll arrive in the evening, then transfer to Weyb valley also called Wolf Camp. Here in Weyb valley, you have a chance of seeing the largest number of Wolves that the Bale Mountains have to offer. Inside Bale Mountains NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
This morning, you'll do an early game drive to look for Ethiopian wolves in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a safari in the Gassay grasslands. While the Mountain Nyala is regularly seen on the moorlands, here, some of the Nyalas have become unafraid of humans and will allow a close approach, as will Menelik’s bushbucks and especially the ultra-tame common warthogs, which one can get to within a couple of meters! It is also a good area for Bohor reedbucks, Serval Cats, and olive baboons. You'll drive to Sodota for an overnight stay. Inside Bale Mountains NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 5
You will be spending much of your time exploring the wild and spectacular Afroalpine moorlands of the high Sanetti Plateau, one of the best places in the Bale Mountains to find the Ethiopian wolf. The Ethiopian wolf is the world’s rarest canid, although, happily, a recent campaign to vaccinate local dogs, organized by the Ethiopian Wolf Conservation Programmed has brought about a welcome rebound in the population. The wolves tend to go around singly or in small groups. During the course of your visit, you should have repeated encounters with them, watching them patrol their territories, greet each other, relax, or hunt rodents and other prey. You should be able to see them catch rodents, their special food. Inside Bale Mountains NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 6
After breakfast, you will drive to Hareena Forest, crossing over Sanneti Plateau. Hareena Forest is the second-largest tropical rainforest in Ethiopia. On arrival at the forest, our main target is to look for the Endemic Bale Monkey in the Bamboo part of the forest. Mammals such as Colobus monkey, Olive baboon, and Giant forest hog can also be seen in the area. Night game drives will introduce you to some nocturnal mammals such as African civet, bush pig, honey badger, Abyssinian genet, and others. Inside Bale Mountains NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 7
After breakfast, you'll drive back to Bale Goba, where you will transfer to the Airport for the return flight back to Addis Ababa. If time permits, you will see some sites. Addis is distinct from many other African capitals because it was not developed under colonial rule. One of its best-known sites is the National Museum of Ethiopia, which houses the remains of “Lucy,” a bipedal hominid who lived 3.2 million years ago and was discovered in 1974. In the evening, you'll enjoy a farewell party dinner with a cultural dinner, a traditional special buffet, and local drinks to experience Ethiopia’s cultural meals and drinks at Yod Abyssinia restaurants after the farewell party. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

5.0/5Extraordinary Ethiopia Tours was a wonderful tour operator during my time in Lalibela. The guide, Ermiyas, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. His love and passion for the town and especially the churches shines through. When some activities did not work out as planned, EET went out of their way to find alternative options for me. Great experience for a solo traveller!

Choosing a tour operator is a risky business. You pay thousands of dollars in advance and you will experience the service only afterwards. I can guarantee on my behalf, that doing business with Extraordinary Ethiopia tours and Mareg is absolutely a safe business from the first step of communication until the very end of the journey. After having followed an itinerary of 15 nights and 16 days in Ethiopia I am more than grateful to Maereg and his team, that I had a truly great, a sort of a once-in-a-lifetime tour. Everything worked perfectly. There wasn't any issue, that I felt sorry of. To be honest: I fell in love with Ethiopia. I had s solo safari to Bale mountains, Omo Valley tribes, Gondar and Lalibela. All the arrangements were better than expected: In Addis Abeba I was welcomed by the efficient "liaison officer" Habtu. In my safari journey driver BK was just brilliant, Toyota Landcruiser wonderful, accommodation exceeding all the expectations, meals great and Maereg kept on following all my moves daily. I felt that I was in safe hands all the time. Ethiopia is an amazing country. Ethiopians are incredibly kind and nice. I wish I could have stayed longer. But decided already to return. I can warmly recommend Maereg and his mates to any type of traveller. His team is professional, energetic and ambitious and do not leave even the slightest detail unchecked. They do want to introduce and show their country to you, and they do it with love!❤️

My 10‑day journey through Ethiopia was nothing short of extraordinary, and I owe so much of that experience to my tour planner, Maerag. The itinerary he prepared was thoughtful, seamless, and incredibly rich I t was a perfect balance of history, culture, and unforgettable encounters. From the moment I arrived in Addis Ababa, everything was organized with care. Gondar was another highlight. Walking through the castles and learning about their connection to the Egyptian empress felt like stepping into a living story. My guide’s knowledge brought every stone and corridor to life. Celebrating Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Lalibela at Saint Mary’s Church was a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience. The atmosphere, the devotion, and the beauty of the rock‑hewn churches were unforgettable, and I’m grateful for how smoothly everything was arranged. The Omo Valley was where the trip became truly immersive. Meeting tribes who walk on stilts, seeing intricate body‑painting traditions, dancing with community members, and witnessing a bull‑jumping ceremony were moments I will carry with me forever. These experiences were only possible because of my guide’s deep connections and respect for the communities we visited. On my 2 last days, I explored the city, visiting the cultural centre, and learning at the Addis Ababa University Ethnographic Museum gave me a strong foundation for understanding Ethiopia’s depth and diversity. Throughout the entire trip, flying from city to city, navigating different regions, and engaging with so many cultures. I felt supported, informed, and inspired. My guide’s professionalism, warmth, and expertise elevated every moment. I wholeheartedly recommend Maereg and some of his team to anyone considering a tour of Ethiopia. If you’re planning a trip, you’ll be in excellent hands, and you’ll experience Ethiopia in a way that is authentic, meaningful, and truly unforgettable.
