Your private safari driver will collect you from your Nairobi hotel for a scenic drive along the Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve (approx. 5.5 hours). En route, enjoy a photo stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint — a spectacular geological wonder visible from space. Arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge in time for lunch. After settling in, depart on your first afternoon game drive. Look out for iconic wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, and more. With luck, you may even spot the entire “Big Nine.” Return to the lodge by 6:30 PM for dinner and an overnight stay. Mid-range lodge located just outside Masai Mara NR (Kenya) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 3
Breakfast: at the lodge. After breakfast your day will be spent exploring the park in search of the “Big Five” and trailing the wildebeest migration. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that you can never take in everything. Over 450 species of birds have been recorded on the reserve. You will easily see lion, rhino, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hyena, jackal, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelope and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah including the lion, cheetah, jackal, hyena and vulture. Later in the day you will return to lodge/camp for dinner and your overnight stay. Mid-range lodge located just outside Masai Mara NR (Kenya) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
Breakfast at the lodge, You will leave the lodge after breakfast, and drive to the border, after border formalities, we'll drive to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. It will be a long day of driving but the afternoon game drives in Serengeti will be a rewarding one plus keep your eyes peeled for the magical Serengeti sunset. Note: If you want to have a morning game drive in Maasai Mara on these day let us know, from our experience it is always a rush game drive, and on the other hand you will arrive in Serengeti very late in the evening. Dinner and overnight are at the camp. Evening: Spend the nights in the so called –migration camp, strategically located close to the migration, ensuring you won’t miss a single moment of the action. Mid-range tented camp located inside Northern Serengeti NP (Tanzania) All meals included Drinking water & beer and wine (Other drinks not included)
Day 5
Breakfast: at the camp. Spend your day exploring the northern reaches of the Serengeti on safari, tracking the great array of game and wildlife that this vast area offers. If you’re there at the right time for the great migration (depending on the season), this is the region where the herds are at their most concentrated as they seek to cross the Mara River to reach the open grasslands beyond, and it’s where (if you’re lucky) you’ll see iconic river crossings. It’s also an area of untamed natural beauty, of rolling hills, rivers, forests and open plains. Dinner: At the camp. Evening: Spend the nights in the so called –migration camp, strategically located close to the migration, ensuring you won’t miss a single moment of the action. You'll have breakfast at the lodge. You'll leave your lodge very early in the morning and descend 610 meters to the grasslands of the crater floor, an area of about 265 square kilometers. Despite its small size, the crater is a Big Five country and the openness of the terrain means wildlife viewing. You'll spend the day exploring the crater floor, stopping to picnic on the grasslands amidst the grazing herds. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and unflooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals, including black rhinos, wildebeests, and zebras, along with Africa’s densest concentrations of hyenas. Lunch: picnic. The crater’s forests shelter elephants and buffalos, and its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos. Lions, jackals, leopards, and caracals make up the full range of predators. Afternoon: You'll leave the crater and drive to your luxury accommodation. Mid-range tented camp located just outside Tarangire NP (Tanzania) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 8
Explore one of Tanzania’s most rewarding national parks, a land of big baobab trees, big elephants and big cats. No wonder this ends up being the favorite park in Tanzania for many visitors. Sightings of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, velvet monkeys and zebras are also almost guaranteed. Lions are plentiful here – Tarangire is home to one of Tanzania’s healthiest lion populations. While you’ll have to work a little harder to see a cheetah or leopard, it will only enhance your excitement when you do.
