Day 1
Buffalo Springs National Reserve
You'll depart Nairobi early in the morning and begin the journey to Buffalo Springs National Reserve. You will journey through the scenic Mt. Kenya region and into the rugged terrains of Samburu. Upon arrival at the reserve, you'll check in, have lunch, and proceed for a late afternoon game drive in the reserve, known for its dramatic landscapes and unique arid-adapted wildlife. The lodge offers excellent views of the Ewaso Ng'iro River and surrounding wilderness. Dinner and overnight at your lodge. Buffalo Springs NR Highlights: - Samburu Special Five: Beisa oryx, Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and reticulated giraffe. - Other wildlife: Big cats (Lion, leopard, cheetah), Elephants, Birds (over 390 species), crocodiles, hippos, waterbuck, did-dik, baboons. - Optional walking safari (at an extra cost). - A photographer's paradise (unique wildlife, dramatic landscapes, less traffic, and golden sunrise and sunset light). - Optional Samburu village visits (at an extra cost). Buffalo Springs Reserve to Nairobi
Enjoy an early morning game drive, when wildlife is most active and the sunrise light creates a beautiful landscape. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Check out and head to Nairobi, where the memorable safari getaway ends. Optional activity: After breakfast, you can visit the Samburu village and learn about their vibrant culture. The cultural visits also support local communities economically. Note: These cultural visits are pre-arranged and incur extra charges.
