Day 3

Morondava - Bekopaka

After breakfast, you depart from Morondava and drive to Bekopoka with a short photo stop at the Baobab Avenue. The drive from Morondava to Bekopaka is one of Madagascar's most iconic off-road adventures, serving as the gateway to the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. ● The journey begins with a short drive to the world-famous Avenue of the Baobabs. ● Continuing north, you will pass the Kirindy Forest ● You will reach the town of Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. Then a ferry that takes about 45 minutes. This is the traditional spot for lunch. ● The second half of the drive you will traverse dry savannah and local villages. ● Just before reaching Bekopaka, there is a final, shorter ferry crossing over the Manambolo River. Once across, you have arrived in the village of Bekopaka, the base for exploring the Tsingy. Lunch break at Belo sur Tsiribihina.(Recommended but not included). Grand Tsingy of Bemaraha

Day 4

Grand Tsingy of Bemaraha

After breakfast, you will set out for a full day exploration of Bemaraha National Park. The Grand Tsingy (Andamozavaky) is the park’s main event. Located approximately 17km north of Bekopaka, this is a demanding but awe-inspiring 4-to-6-hour expedition. ● The Ascent (Via Ferrata): After a brief hike through the dry deciduous forest, you will don a climbing harness and use a system of carabiners and steel cables to navigate steep ladders and narrow rock chimneys. ● The Pinnacles: You will reach the summit of the limestone needles. The landscape stark, grey, and razor-sharp. ● The Hanging Bridge: The highlight of the day is a 20-meter-long suspension bridge hanging over a massive, 50-meter-deep limestone chasm. A perfect photo opportunity. ● The Cathedral: A majestic, cool canyon. It is a perfect, shaded spot to catch your breath and enjoy a packed lunch. ● Wildlife: Watch the trees for the Decken’s sifaka. Then finally a delicious dinner and overnight at Soleil des Tsingy. Mid-range lodge located just outside Bemaraha NP All meals included Drinks not included

Day 5

Petit Tsingy of Bemaraha

After breakfast, set out for a second day exploration of Bemaraha National Park. This day offers a richer cultural and geological perspective. Typically a 4hour combined excursion starting just minutes from Bekopaka. The Manambolo Pirogue Trip: The morning begins in a traditional dugout canoe (pirogue) on calm, tea-colored waters of the Manambolo River. ● The Gorge: Glide between limestone cliffs. ● Sacred Tombs: Your guide will point out ancient Vazimba tombs. Remember the fady (taboo): never point at them with an outstretched finger; use a knuckle instead. ● Caves: Explore stalactite-heavy caves like the Grotte des Chauves-Souris (Cave of Bats), where thousands of fruit bats hang from the ceilings. Petit Tsingy (The Labyrinth): After the river trip, The Petit Tsingy. ● The Viewpoints: Two elevated platforms provide views over river and stone forest below. ● Nature’s Detail: See a greater variety of plants Dinner and overnight at Soleil des Tsingy. Bekopaka - Morondava

Day 6

Bekopaka - Morondava

After breakfast, you depart from Bekopaka and drive back to Morondava. The itinerary is timed specifically to reach the Avenue of the Baobabs in the late afternoon. This is the iconic "golden hour," when the ancient Adansonia grandidieri trees cast long shadows across the red earth. The Baobab Avenue is arguably the most photographed location in Madagascar. This natural 2km stretch of the RN8 road is lined with over 300 massive Grandidier’s baobabs (Adansonia grandidieri). The "Mother of the Forest": Known locally as Reniala, these trees are a symbol of resilience. While the surrounding forest was cleared for farmland over centuries, the baobabs were spared by the local community out of respect and necessity. The Golden Hour Experience (Sunset) This is the peak visiting time. As the sun dips, the smooth, cork-like bark of the trees glows a deep orange-brown, and the sky transforms into a canvas of violet and amber. Dinner and overnight at Palissandre Côte Ouest. Morondava - Antananarivo

Day 7

Morondava - Antananarivo

After breakfast, you will head to Betania for visit of a fishermen village. A visit to Betania (or Betany) offers a peaceful escape from the main tourist strip of Morondava. Located just across the river mouth at the southern tip of the Nosy Kely peninsula, this traditional Vezo fishing village provides a glimpse into authenticcoastal life. The experience begins with a short, scenic crossing in a traditional pirogue (dugout canoe). The village is a labyrinth of sand paths and traditional reed huts. It is famously home to a population of unusually large, sun-loving pigs that can often be seen wandering the outskirts or lounging in the shade, a unique quirk of this specific community. Following the visit, you will be transferred to Morondava Airport for your flight to Antananarivo. Upon your arrival in Morondava, you will be greeted by the ground team and transferred to your hotel. Dinner and overnight at La Varangue Boutique Hotel. International Departure from Antananarivo

Day 8

International Departure from Antananarivo

After breakfast, you will visit the upper city of Antananarivo. Perched at an altitude of 1,400m, the Haute-Ville (Upper City) is the soul of Antananarivo where the Merina royalty first established their seat of power. Walking these cobblestone streets offers a journey through French colonial architecture and traditional two-story brick houses, all while overlooking the sprawling "City of a Thousand" below. Highlights: ● The Crown of Tana ● Architectural Evolution: Originally a wooden structure built for Queen Ranavalona. ● Sacred Grounds: A sacred royal necropolis. Cultural Tip: It is strictly fady to point your finger directly at the royal tombs or the palace; use a tucked-in knuckle if you must gesture. ● Panoramic Vistas: The Rova offers the best 360-degree views in Madagascar. Musée de la Photographie de Madagascar: ● A Visual Archive ● Immersive Exhibit Following the visit, you will be transferred to Ivato Airport for your international flight. Holiday of a lifetime!

We were a party of 7 from SA and Germany. We had the absolute time of our lives! The communication was great, we wanted to (try) and see as much of Namibia as we could in 9 days. We went to various different places, saw all the must-sees and finished strong in Erongo, which was so luxurious. The value for money was incredible and in general the trip was hassle free, as everything was planned in advance for us. We will definitely book here again.

A perfect trip, organized by Marietjie (Map2Africa)!

A perfect trip, that's what Map2Africa arranged for us! Everything was perfectly prepared and send via an app to us. It helped us a lot during our trip. We liked the spots and lodges Marietjie choose for us very much, even as the arranged activities. This will be a trip we'll never forget. It was not the first holiday Marietjie arranged for us and it will definitly not be the last.

Marietjie organised an unforgettable self drive trip to Namibia and Botswana for us. From the first initial contact till the last day of the trip everything se did was perfect. A very well set up itinerary, a very good travel app and a perfect follow up also during the trip making sure all went well. Specially the latter is something which we have not encountered in such extend before and was much appreciated. We recommend Marietjie and Map 2 Africa to everyone planning a trip to any of their destinations in Africa.

Still most exciting and favorite trip EVER

My wife and I used them to arrange a self-drive safari through Botswana and into Zimbabwe for the falls. The trip was flawless and it has remained our favorite travel ever. They helped with changes and suggestions throughout the process. Communication was through and timely. I HIGHLY recommend them.
