After landing at Windhoek International Airport, you will be welcomed by your private naturalist guide. You will start your Namibian safari straight away, taking the road southwest through the scenic Khomas Hochland highlands before you head down the Great Escarpment into the Namib Desert below. You'll stop for a picnic lunch at a scenic location along the way. You'll arrive at your accommodation in the mid-afternoon. You will stay here for two nights whilst you explore the remarkable sights of the Namib Desert. This afternoon, you can just relax and soak in the scenic and tranquil surroundings at the lodge before joining your sundowner drive activity offered by the lodge. Accommodation with a relaxed atmosphere in the dunes of the Namib Desert in Sossusvlei. Surrounded by magnificent landscapes with a breathtaking view over the red dunes, experience fantastic sunsets nearly every day of the year. Your meals and local beverages are included. Luxury lodge located 1-2hr drive from Sossusvlei (Sand Dunes) Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 2
This morning, you will rise early for a magical excursion into the Namib Naukluft National Park, entering the park gates at sunrise to capture the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuate their towering shapes and curves. This area boasts some of the highest free-standing dunes in the world. Your guide will give you an insight into the formation of the Namib Desert and its myriad of fascinating creatures and plants that have adapted to survive these harsh environments. Once you have explored the areas around Sossusvlei and Deadvlei to your heart's content, you can enjoy a picnic in the shade of a camel thorn tree. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to explore the area around the lodge, or relax with a good book, and chat to your guide if you would like to add an extra activity. Your meals and local beverages are included. Luxury lodge located 1-2hr drive from Sossusvlei (Sand Dunes) All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 3
The fascinating drive today takes you northwest through awesome and ever-changing desert landscapes of the Namib Naukluft National Park, including the impressive Gaub and Kuiseb canyons. You will meet the coast at the port town of Walvis Bay. Then, you'll continue north to Swakopmund, where you can enjoy the pleasant seaside location and cooler coastal air for tonight. There will be time this afternoon to explore the town and wander along the waterfront on foot. Your meals and local beverages are included. Mid-range guest house located in Swakopmund (City) Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
Continuing on your safari today, the road takes you north and east into the wonderful and diverse region of Damaraland. You pass Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, which peaks at 2,573 m above sea level, and take time to view game and absorb the vastness of the scenery along the way. Damaraland is typified by displays of colour, magnificent table-topped mountains, rock formations, and bizarre-looking vegetation. It is the variety and loneliness of the area as well as the scenic splendour which will reward and astound you, giving one an authentic understanding of the word 'wilderness'. If time allows, this afternoon your guide will take you to visit the nearby attractions and geological sites of the prehistoric Twyfelfontein rock engravings (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) —if not, there is plenty of time to see them tomorrow. Your meals and local beverages are included. Mid-range lodge located inside Damaraland All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 5
After an early breakfast, you will be treated to an exciting 4x4 excursion to explore this remarkable region and to search for game, especially the elusive desert-adapted elephants, if they are in the area. Damaraland is home to a variety of desert-adapted wildlife and hidden desert treasures. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a scenic bush walk, or scenic afternoon nature drive, or visit Twyfelfontein, if it was not done yesterday. Your meals and local beverages are included. Mid-range lodge located inside Damaraland All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 6
Today, you'll set off on your journey to the Etosha National Park. You'll arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in the park with your private guide. Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s most established and sought-after national parks. From open plains to arid savannah and some of the best game viewing around, this park has a lot going for it. Etosha Pan is the most recognizable feature of Namibia’s premier national park. It is so enormous that you can see it from space. This 120 km (75 mi) long dry lakebed is the heart of the park and is eponymous with the park itself, whose name translates to “Great White Place” after the characteristic coloring of this massive salt pan. The Etosha Oberland Lodge is located in a 5,500-hectare game reserve that shares a 10km border with the Etosha National Park. The lodge is open to the savannah, and wildlife can be spotted all around the hotel. Your meals and local beverages are included. Mid-range lodge located just outside Etosha NP All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 7
Today, you will be treated to an exciting morning guided game drive into the Etosha National Park, to see more of the wide variety of game and bird species that are to be found there before returning to the lodge for a late lunch. There is then time to relax by the refreshing swimming pool before you head out again for an afternoon game drive before exiting the park before sunset (either in the park or at the lodge, as per discussions with your guide). Alternatively, you can opt to spend the whole day out in the park and either take lunch by the waterhole at the Okaukuejo rest camp or have a picnic while watching game at a particularly productive waterhole in the area. Once you are back, the rest of the evening can be spent game viewing at the camp’s floodlit waterhole while enjoying dinner, and afterwards. Your meals and local beverages are included. Mid-range lodge located just outside Etosha NP All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 8
After an early breakfast, you'll set off on your journey back to Windhoek. The road takes you south through Namibia’s central highlands and commercial farmlands to reach Windhoek. Lunch is included. You will be transferred to Windhoek International Airport— departure flights must be no earlier than 6:00 pm to allow sufficient time for the journey back to Windhoek, or a final night in Windhoek can be arranged at additional cost if required. 5.0/5My daughter who is 27 and I (her mom)have been dreaming of this trip for a few years. It was everything we wanted July seemed to be the best month to visit South Africa. Weather is comfortable, better opportunity for seeing the wildlife , no mosquitos or bugs due to it being winter at that time. Our trip started in Cape Town which was beautiful. We stayed at the Victoria and Alfred for 4 nights. Service and food there was really good. Lots to do in CT. Then we went to the Kambuka River Sands private nature reserve for 4 nights. We rated it 10. Everything about it was great. We then went to Sabi Sabi little Bush reserve for 2 nights. It was great as well. We saw all the animals we wanted to see except for the cheetahs. We also saw lion cubs and baby elephants. End of trip was Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe for 3 nights at the Shongwe Oasis. All transfers and domestic flights were pretty much on time. Service was great everywhere. Definitely got your money’s worth.

Was the Safari of lifetime. We spended one week between Zimbabwe for the Victoria Falls and Botswana. Amazing. The river cruse in the Zambezi river is a dream. We saw also Chobe national park and the Delta of Okavongo: a dream. Everything was well organized. The transfer/The Lodge/the Game drive. Chrizaan was super. She provide us the best organization and also assistence during the trip.

We had been thinking about a Southern Africa safari trip for a few years and had some valuable input from Zimbabwean friends who had been on tour many times. So we had a general idea of when and where, but needed guidance on the finer details and options, as well as someone to put it all together once we’d agreed on an itinerary (South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana). This was possibly going to be our one and only trip of this type so we wanted to get it right! I saw an ad for a tour similar to what I had in mind so contacted Discover Africa (DA). Devryn was able to clearly outline his preferences that would meet the brief. He suggested the order of travel, how long at each place, what type of accommodation (generally getting better as we progressed), how to get from A to B etc, via several email conversations. We had a Zoom meeting with him before finalising the plan, where we were able to ask further questions which he was able to answer confidently and competently given he had been to these places himself. We felt confident enough with his recommendations to lock it in, 12 months ahead of the trip. Naturally, you anticipate some things will go wrong on tour eg a missed connection, guide not turning up, accommodation not as described, and we were mentally prepared for that. However every connection was made on time and the accommodation exceeded our high expectations! The Safari experience itself (which Devryn obviously couldn’t guarantee) was superb. The guides from the lodges we used were experienced, informative, respectful of the animals, considerate of what we had and hadn’t seen previously and so every day (twice a day!) was another trip into the unknown. Everyone hopes to see the Big 5, which we did early on. After that it was a matter of literally sitting back in the jeep and seeing what would turn up. The birdlife was better than I expected (lilac-breasted roller was a favourite), and seeing small animals like mongooses (4 different species), a chameleon and steenbok were unexpected highlights. The food was varied at the various lodges with usually a buffet of 3 main courses of western style cuisine (although I ate wildebeest, crocodile, kudu and springbok when it was offered). We finished off with 3 nights in Cape Town to let the Safari experience sink in, which was a very good move. So in summary, we did some initial research, worked out a plan with Devryn, and he nailed the brief. We’ll never know if it could have been even better, but I seriously doubt it.

I was in a group of 8 other travelers that we were very well suited to each other. Everyone including the guide was knowledgeable and very interested in all aspects of the tour. The tour guide was also the driver and had very pertinent knowledge of the areas we went to. The itinerary was fairly well paced. Most days we were at our hotel by mid-afternoon. The lodge accommodations were unique and quite rustic in some cases. Staff at those accommodations were very dedicated and pleasant.
