Day 1
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide from Naleyo Tours and Travel who will brief you about your safari. You will then be transferred to your hotel for relaxation after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy views of Lake Victoria or a short walk around the area. Day 2
After an early breakfast, you will begin your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. En route, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an on-foot rhino tracking experience. After lunch in Masindi, you will proceed to the park and head to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight. Day 3
You will start the day with an early morning game drive in the northern sector of the park, where you may spot elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo, and various antelope species. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise along the Nile to the base of the powerful Murchison Falls, with sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife. Day 4
After breakfast, you will depart for Kibale National Park, enjoying scenic views of the Albertine Rift Valley and a stop at Lake Albert fishing villages. You will have lunch en route and continue to Kibale, arriving in the evening for dinner and relaxation. Day 5
Early transfer to Kibale National Park headquarters for a detailed briefing before setting off into the dense tropical forest in search of chimpanzees. Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, you will follow trails through lush vegetation while listening for the distinctive calls of the chimps echoing through the forest. As you trek, you may encounter other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, along with a rich diversity of birdlife. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing their social interactions, feeding habits, and playful behavior in their natural habitat. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch before beginning your scenic transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive in the late afternoon, check in at your lodge, and relax before dinner and your overnight stay. Day 6
Embark on a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Queen Elizabeth National Park. As the sun rises over the savannah, you will have the opportunity to spot lions on the hunt, elephants moving in herds, buffalo grazing, and various antelope species. Your guide will help track wildlife while sharing insights into animal behavior and the park’s unique ecosystem. After returning to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation, you will head out for an afternoon boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This cruise offers one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with Nile crocodiles basking on the shores and elephants coming to drink at the water’s edge. The channel is also a haven for birdlife, making it a paradise for photographers and nature lovers. You will return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight. Day 7
After breakfast, you will depart for the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known as Ishasha. This remote area is famous for its rare tree-climbing lions, often seen lounging in the branches of fig and acacia trees. You will enjoy a game drive through this unique landscape, keeping an eye out not only for lions but also for elephants, buffalo, and topi antelope. Following your game drive, you will continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes you through scenic countryside with terraced hills, small villages, and lush greenery. As you approach Bwindi, the landscape becomes more mountainous and forested, offering a preview of the dense rainforest that awaits. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, relax, and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure. Day 8
Today marks the highlight of your safari experience. After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers before setting off into the dense forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from a couple of hours to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ location, and will involve navigating through thick vegetation, steep slopes, and muddy trails. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend a magical hour in their presence. Observing these gentle giants up close as they feed, groom, and interact is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience. The encounter offers a rare opportunity to connect with one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat. After the trek, you may choose to relax at the lodge or take part in an optional Batwa cultural experience. This visit provides insight into the lives of the indigenous forest people, including traditional music, dance, and storytelling. Day 9
After breakfast, you will cross the border into Rwanda and proceed to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, you will participate in golden monkey tracking, an exciting and less strenuous primate experience compared to gorilla trekking. These playful and energetic monkeys are known for their vibrant golden fur and can be seen leaping through bamboo forests. After spending time observing the golden monkeys, you will continue to your lodge in Ruhengeri (Musanze), where you can relax and enjoy the cool mountain atmosphere with views of the Virunga volcanoes. Day 10
In the morning, you will embark on a guided hike to the Dian Fossey research center, located between Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke. This hike offers not only a moderate physical challenge but also a meaningful historical experience, as you learn about Dian Fossey’s dedication to mountain gorilla conservation. Visiting her former research site and final resting place provides a deeper understanding of the efforts that have helped protect these animals. After the hike, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, a journey that takes you through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills, often referred to as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” Upon arrival, you will experience the famous canopy walk, a suspended bridge high above the forest floor that offers breathtaking views of the rainforest and a chance to spot birds and primates from above. Day 11
After breakfast, you will head into Nyungwe Forest for colobus monkey tracking. This park is home to large troops of black-and-white colobus monkeys, often seen moving gracefully through the treetops. The experience offers excellent photography opportunities and a chance to observe their unique group behavior. Later, you will transfer to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s Great Lakes. Upon arrival, you will check into your lakeside lodge and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. Day 12
This day is dedicated to relaxation and enjoying the beauty of Lake Kivu. You may spend the morning at leisure, swimming, kayaking, or simply unwinding at the lodge while taking in the peaceful surroundings. In the late afternoon, you will set out on a scenic boat cruise to Napoleon Island. The island is known for its unique shape and is home to a colony of fruit bats and various bird species. As the sun sets over the lake, you will enjoy stunning views and a serene atmosphere, making for a perfect end to your safari adventure. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 13
After breakfast, you will depart for Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital city. The drive offers scenic views of rolling hills and rural landscapes. Depending on your departure schedule, you may enjoy a short city tour, including visits to local markets or the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which provides a powerful insight into Rwanda’s history and resilience. You will then be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure, marking the end of your unforgettable Uganda and Rwanda safari experience.
