Duration
14-Day
Okavango Delta, Botswana
Botswana is considered Southern Africa's premier game viewing destination. The remote wilderness, limited access for visitors and abundant game, make for an exceptional wildlife safari. This tour is the essence of why we started Sunway. We spend 7 nights of this journey camping wild in the national parks of Botswana.

Day 1
Departing Johannesburg at 06:30 am, we head north into Botswana. We pass Serowe, the birthplace of Botswana’s first president, Sir Seretse Khama, on our way to the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This 4,300-hectare reserve situated on the Kalahari sandveld, has several natural waterholes and provides prime habitat for white rhino, zebra and wildebeest. We take our first game drive around the open grassland of Malema and the Serowe Pans. For the duration of the tour, clients will erect their own tents under the supervision of the guides. Clients will be asked to assist in preparing meals and washing up after meals. Guides do all the cooking. Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinks not included
Day 2
We drive through the Kalahari to Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Situated on the banks of the Thamalakane River, Maun is a bustling frontier town where we prepare for the delta excursion. After setting up camp, we have a relaxing afternoon at the swimming pool. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinks not included
Day 3
Our local guides will take us deep into the heart of the Okavango Delta on a mekoro (dugout canoe). The delta forms as water flow from the Angolan highlands out over the Botswanan flat Kalahari Desert sands, creating a delicate, green oasis for birds & wildlife. We will camp wild on remote islands in this amazingly dynamic environment & enjoy bush walks, bird watching & swimming in the clear water. Camping with our local guides, we learn more about their lifestyle & culture. We return to Maun in the late afternoon of day 5 and have time for an optional (own expense) game flight over the Okavango, which will reveal a different aspect of the delta. Inside Okavango Delta (Botswana) All meals included Drinks not included
Day 6
We spend our time on game drives watching the plentiful wildlife including wild dog, elephant, hippo, buffalo, lion & other game. Moremi Game Reserve rates as one of the leading wildlife areas of the world and we take our open 4-WD vehicle into Moremi for fantastic game viewing! Grasslands, floodplains, forests, lily lagoons and winding water channels combine to form a variety of game viewing habitats. Inside Moremi GR (Okavango Delta, Botswana) All meals included Drinks not included
Day 8
Moving north over the sand ridge and into the Mababe Depression, we arrive at the Savuti Marsh. This open grassland area attracts herds of zebra and wildebeest, which in turn draw the large lion prides for which Savuti is famous. We camp wild in the central Chobe National Park at either Savuti or Zwei-Zwei. Inside Savuti (Chobe NP, Botswana) All meals included Drinks not included
Day 10
We pack up camp and go on an en-route game drive out of the Savuti in the direction of Chobe National Park and the Chobe River. The Chobe River flows lazily along the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, attracting some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa. We take an afternoon game drive along the banks of the Chobe River. Inside Chobe NP (Botswana) All meals included Drinks not included
Day 11
In the early morning, we search for game on the flood plains of the Chobe River. The late afternoon game-viewing “sundowner cruise" is a highlight as we see the mighty elephant herds returning to the Chobe River to quench their thirst. We camp at Kasane on the Chobe River for the night and enjoy an own expense meal at a local restaurant. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinks not included
Day 12
Overnight for 2 nights in Zambia near Livingstone town on the banks of the Zambezi River. Enjoy a spectacular walk through tropical vegetation to the very edge of the “Mosi oa Tunya” or “the smoke that thunders” - Victoria Falls. There are opportunities to white water raft on the mighty Zambezi River, bungee jump, or take a “flight of angels” (own expense). Mid-range lodge in Livingstone (City, Zambia) Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Drinks not included
Day 14
Your tour ends at 08:00, after breakfast. Transfers to local airports are available. Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Drinks not included

5.0/5I started at Victoria Falls and travelled through Botswana and Namibia, camping for most of 21 nights. I was a bit apprehensive as my trip had been delayed 3 years, but Bruce and Grace's communication was helpful, friendly and positive and made me feel happy. The trip itself was magnificent, it surpassed any expectations I had. My guides, Patrick and Moses were knowledgeable, humorous, hard working and catered meals to a high standard. I was well briefed each day about the itinerary, what to expect and lists of highlights. Geography, political and social information as well as superb information about the wildlife was constant and I gained such insights. I was comfortable in my tent and in the van - P and M always made sure to check I was okay. I really felt like I saw what was special, the itinerary was well set. I left Livingstone and Africa feeling like I left home, with a love that grew because my experience was so enriching. I can't thank Sunways, Patrick and Moses enough for the experience of a lifetime. My tour was NB21 and I would do it all again - though I have been told of the Malawi Mozambique tour and am saving my pennies.

We took the 16 day accommodated Game Tracker through South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. We enjoyed every day of our trip. It was our first safari and so everything was new to us; we never tired of seeing the birds and animals and even just driving though the countryside. Our guides Chris and Joseph were outstanding. They always gave us a briefing about what to expect the next day, after dinner in the evening. They provided a wealth of information about the birds, animals, the culture and the landscape and even the economies of the countries we visited. We had a nice mix off meals in lodges/restaurants and meals made by the guides. Everything was delicious and by and large very healthy as well. While we were in Okavango, we had koodoo (farmed, not wild) stew. The lodges selected by Sunway were great- very comfortable and they usually had very nice grounds that were good for bird watching. Some of the restaurants are still learning about the logistics of serving customers and getting them their bills. But the guides are aware of this and so we usually placed our orders ahead of time so there were not long delays getting our meals. We absolutely detest camping, so we were not big fans of the accommodation in the Okavango Delta. If you like camping, it would be great. But anyway, we loved the whole Okavango experience. It was definitely worth any shortcomings with the accommodation. The local guides selected by Sunway for the most part were excellent. for example, our guide for Thebes River in Botswana seemed to know exactly how to position the boat and the safari vehicle to get the best pictures. Our favourite parts of the trip were the Thebes River cruise and game drive and the salt pan (for the birds). The vehicle we used to get from venue to venue was called the red elephant. It is a custom designed truck. The seating was comfortable and you got good views from the windows. We always had snacks available, mostly local fruits. Of course what everyone goes on a safari for is the animals. We got great views of lions, buffalo, hippos, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, koodoos, impala, monkeys and much more in many of the places we visited. The Sunway trip was great value and we would definitely consider another trip with Sunway
