Day 1
Arrival in Antananarivo. Depending on your flight schedule, your driver-guide will be at the airport to welcome you. You'll transfer and check in to your hotel. You'll have a briefing with the driver-guide for your tour. Your overnight stay will be on a half-board basis at Combava Hotel. Day 2
You'll depart for the west, by crossing the highlands with its field of rice terraces as in Indonesia. Its small villages will give you a good introduction to the Malagasy way of life. To do so, you will take national roads number 7 and 34. You'll have lunch on your charge. You'll arrive in the afternoon, and check in at your hotel on a half-board basis at l’Eden de la Tsiribihina. Day 3
After breakfast, you'll transfer to Masiakampy’s pier to take the pirogue to start the great descent of the Tsiribihina River. You'll have an entry to gorges and enjoy birds, turtles, and lemurs watching. You'll arrive at Anosinampela, installation of the bivouac by the crew. You'll have aperitif and musical entertainment around the campfire Your overnight stay will be in a tent on a full-board basis. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
After breakfast, you'll swim at the natural waterfall or natural swimming pool. After a picnic lunch, you'll continue the descent, and exit from the gorge. You'll visit a Sakalava village known as Begidro. You'll stop near a forest wood for observation of bats, many kinds of birds, crocodiles, pachypodiums, and hopefully some lemurs. On arrival at Ambatomisay, the crew will install the bivouac. Your overnight stay will be on a full-board basis. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 5
After breakfast, you'll enjoy observation of wild ducks and baobab forest. You will have a picnic lunch. Cruising to Tsimafana, you'll arrive around 1 pm, where your guide is already waiting for you. You will continue the trip by car heading to Bekopaka, a real track, and crossing rivers by traditional ferry is awaiting, enjoy! You'll check in on a half-board basis at Olympe du Bemaraha. Day 6
The day is devoted to a visit to Bemaraha National Park. Hike in the national park. The Tsingy de Bemaraha site consists of an integral nature reserve covering 157,710 ha, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1990, and a national park created in 1997, covering 72,340 ha. The two sites bring together limestone rock formations, peaks with sharp cracks, emblematic jewels of the western region of Madagascar, where nature reigns supreme. Day 7
Early in the morning, after breakfast, you'll continue to Morondava. This is a great day of adventure. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch on your charge. The reward at the end of the day is an aperitif at sundown at the famous and unique Baobab Alley. Your Instagram account will be full of memorable pictures! Day 8
Our motto: Authenticity is the new luxury! By continuing into this western loop, you will have the feeling that you are a real explorer who will discover new lands. You'll have a road trip to Manja, a small town on the west coast of Madagascar. You will have a picnic lunch. On arrival in the afternoon, a short visit to the local market to meet the villagers is required. You'll check in on a half-board basis at Hotel Kanto. Day 9
You'll have breakfast and drive to Andavadaoka. This is a small fishing village on the coast of south-west Madagascar. You'll stop at the baobab forest in the late afternoon. This is a free day for a well-deserved rest and quality time to enjoy yourselves. Your overnight stay will be on half-board at Laguna Blu. In the morning, you'll drive to the charming little village of Tsiandamba (famous for its white stone walls) and its small ‘picturesque’ market. You'll spend the day at leisure. Your overnight stay will be on a half-board basis. This is the last morning to take in the sights, before departing for Toliara after lunch. Day 14

After doing some reading and deciding where I wanted to go, I searched the internet for companies offering tours to those places, mostly national parks where I hoped to see lemurs and other wildlife for which Madagascar is known. I received a prompt response from 261EXP, and discovered that all their tours listed online are customizable, available as individual tours with a personal driver/guide. Over the next two weeks, I worked with Christina Thomas via email to add two days to their Vezo Experience tour, so that I could visit Andasibe, as well as national parks along the Vezo Experience route from Antananarivo to the southwest coast. Arrangements included all my airport transfers, accommodations, daily breakfast, local guides and spotters, and the domestic flight back to the capital at the end of the trip. When I arrived, I was ever so happy not to be driving myself, or packed into crowded public buses! My assigned driver, one of the company’s founders, has 17 years experience as a professional driver/guide. His driving skills were truly impressive, as he avoided potholes, straddled missing pavement, dodged errant pedestrians, animals, rickshaws, bicycles, and other hazards on the roadside, and managed to squeeze past hundreds of cargo trucks on the narrow roads. At one point I asked how he managed to memorize every pothole between Tana and Toliara. He just smiled and said it was ESP. Apparently 261EXP has very good relations with others in the travel industry of Madagascar, because they provided excellent local guides and spotters for hikes in national parks, very comfortable accommodations in hotels with scenic locations, excellent restaurants, and courteous staff. Overall, I had an exceptionally enjoyable and truly unforgettable experience in Madagascar, mostly as a result of finding 261EXP to organize the trip for me. I highly recommend this company to arrange a tour for you!

I saw the ancient Baobab trees and got up close to tons of lemurs, chameleons and other wildlife and got to see both sides of the ocean. Overall was an amazing experience! Christina organized all my guides, resorts and hotels seamlessly from the second I stepped out of the airport to when I return to leave and customized my trip to what I wanted to see most. All of her tour guides spoke perfect English and were fun and knowledgeable about the area wildlife and culture. I'm glad I chose 261-Exp as Madagascar is an amazing country to visit but can be really difficult to navigate. I think I would have made a lot of mistakes if I tried to plan this trip myself.

We had a terrific tour with 2 4WD cars and excellent drivers who took us from Tana to Antsirabe to the Tsiribihina river, where we left for three days in a boat and slept for two nights in tents on beaches along the river. The two guides from 261 Exp stayed with us on the boat. We got in touch with people from the villages and had a great time on the boat with marvellous views, lunches and dinners, as well as fire on the beach and music. Then we went to Bekopaka and stayed there for three days to visit the Tsingy of Bemaraha, with walks in the big and small tsingy, caves, pirogue on the river. After one night in Morondava where we arrived just after admiring the avenue of bobabs at sunset, we drove back to Antsirabe. We had a problem with one of the cars, but our guide made it possible to let us continue the trip. The day after we reached Ranomafana and visited the rainforest. For every visit, we had a local guide. The next day we went to Ambalavao after a quick visit to Fianarantsoa, and then we went to the Andringita national park where we had a great walk and marvellous views of the mountains as well as great time with the people from the village. The next stop was Ranohira and the Isalo National park, with beautiful walks, rocks, waterfalls and natural pools. Then we finished our tour at the seaside, in Mangily where we did snorkeling in the coral reef and a tour with quads on the beach. Then back to Tana, a brief tour of the old town, and back home. The tour was great, well organized and scheduled but at the same time flexible and matching the needs of the tourists. We enjoyed the company of our guides.
