This is where you will have lunch, set up yourself, and spend your midday rest during the hottest time of the day. You will have a spectacular view of the waterhole, which, due to the climate, is often the water reservoir and thus an attraction for thirsty wild animals. You will have a second extended game drive through the national park in search of the animal inhabitants of the so-called “Theater of the Wild”. Until the onset of dusk, you will explore the beauty of nature and its wildlife. Filled with exciting impressions, you can end the evening with dinner in your classic lodge. Until lunch, you will make a short stop at Kilimanjaro Restaurant for a short call and lunch. When you are done with lunch, the tour takes you back via Mombasa to the coast to your hotel/cottage. 5.0/5The diverse wildlife and amazing scenery made it one of the best trips of my life. I felt a bit nervous traveling to an new place, but the awesome service provided by Victor and Michael put me at ease when I arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Victor is a blessing and a treasure to this company. Meeting him, seeing his warm smile, and listening to his explanations gave me a lot of assurance. My safari with Michael(our guide) was fantastic!! He always made extra efforts to make the safari with my husband enjoyable and very comfortable. His constant insights and explanations doubled the fun of the safari experience. I am truly grateful for the amazing safari, and I sincerely wish Victor and Michael all the best!

With so many choices of Safari operators before me, I sent three inquiries out. Victor’s initial reply was prompt, and he was also quick answering follow up questions regarding value and options. We booked. A planning glitch with a flight cancellation well into the booking alarmed me, and Victor promptly communicated he would change the start and end dates of the safari. Very much appreciated, with a camp upgrade even snuck in to the new dates! Communication was constant leading up to our hotel pick up, where we met guide Songe. Vic also greeted us, introducing himself in person, and I was glad I could thank him in person for his planning assistance. The Safari itself was my third, so my expectations were realistic. We chose 4 parks, Amboselli, Naivasha, Nakuru and Masai Mara. Each had its own character, and I’m glad I got to all four….all beautiful landscapes, of course with the wildlife we came to see. If I had one cautionary remark, it would be the patience one needs for the drive from Amboselli thru Nairobi to Naivisha. Traffic volume, slow speeds (and I mean SLOW uphill travelling truck traffic) extended the day. And besides patience from the passengers, I must commend Songe. After the morning game drive in Amboselli, we set off west. Our driver was behind the wheel for a long day, but sure to give us ample breaks to stretch and even shop for souvenirs. Songe was accommodating, ensuring we were experiencing our daily itinerary. We followed the Safari itinerary day to day, and were more than happy with Songe’s personal ‘insider’ tips. Accommodations were better than expected, staff at each were as friendly and caring as any I’ve met before. Food offered was quite good at the camps, a few were buffet styles and others were à la carte. All in all, a memorable safari. But, when one is having an out of the ordinary vacation, it’s not unusual that out of the ordinary things can occur. During the last two nights of our safari, torrential rains and devastating flooding occurred. There was infrastructure damage and, more seriously, upheaval of the daily life of the villagers. Songe and Victor were both near and from afar ensuring our safety and comfort. That was much appreciated, especially in retrospect when I read the news describing the effects of the flooding. I thank you again, Songe and Victor.

Velvet Savannah Safaris is definitely the right choice. Everything was well organised, and the tour started on time. It was well planned, and the price was reasonable. Victor kept us updated throughout the planning of the tour and kept checking on us during the tour. The driver, Michael, was skilled and knowledgeable about the animals and the terrain. We explored the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, and Amboseli. We were satisfied and happy and the end of the tour. It was an amazing experience, and we got to see so many beautiful and some rare animals.
