Your safari begins with a morning flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to the Samburu airstrip, taking about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, you're welcomed by your lodge's driver-guide and transferred to your luxury safari lodge or camp, where you check in and enjoy a refreshing lunch. After a short rest, embark on your first game drive in the Samburu National Reserve. The reserve is famous for its rare northern species such as the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx—collectively known as the "Samburu Special Five." As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner and a relaxing evening under the stars. Wake up to the sounds of the bush and enjoy an early morning game drive, the best time to spot predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs on the hunt. After breakfast back at the lodge, you may choose to relax at the pool or participate in a cultural visit to a nearby Samburu village, where you’ll learn about traditional customs, dress, and way of life. In the afternoon, set out on another game drive to explore different areas of the park, perhaps along the Ewaso Nyiro River a vital water source that attracts a wide variety of wildlife. End the day with sundowners (optional extra) in the bush before returning for a candlelit dinner at the lodge. The tour was well organized, with beautiful lodges (we loved Satao Camp and Severin Safari Camp), John was very helpful and also helped to organize a birthday surprise for a friend, Amos our tour guide was just awesome, he gave everything to make our tour unforgettable.
