Day 1
Fly from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa, where you’ll explore the bustling local market. Continue by road to Harar (about 1 hour) and step into the 16th-century walled city, a UNESCO site and the 4th holiest city in Islam. In the evening, witness the legendary “Hyena Man” as he feeds wild hyenas just outside the city walls. Overnight in a traditional Harari house. Budget located in Harar (Town) Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 2
After breakfast, drive to Babile to witness the famous Camel Market, held every Monday and Thursday. This lively marketplace, run mainly by Somali and Hadere Oromo communities, brings together semi-nomadic herders from remote areas to trade their camels. Buyers travel from Jijiga, Babile, and Harar, making the market a fascinating glimpse into local culture and traditions. In the afternoon, return to Harar to explore the historic home of Arthur Rimbaud, the renowned French poet and adventurer. Wander through the colorful Islamic market, visit the National and Harari museums, and see the house of Ras Mekonnen, father of Emperor Haile Selassie. Overnight in a traditional Harari house. Budget located in Harar (Town) All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 3
After a morning visit to Harar’s colorful Islamic Market, drive to Awash National Park (approx. 300 km / 6 hrs). One of Ethiopia’s most popular parks, Awash lies along a key migratory route, making it a paradise for birdwatchers with over 460 recorded species, including the rare yellow-throated seedeater and somber rock chat. The open Illala Sala Plains offer excellent wildlife viewing, home to Beisa oryx, Soemmering’s gazelles, dik-diks, kudus, warthogs, and colobus monkeys. Predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and servals also roam the park. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy your first exploration of the park before overnighting at Doho Lodge. Mid-range lodge located just outside Awash NP All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 4
After an early morning game drive, head east to the Filwuha Hot Springs, a lush oasis surrounded by dramatic lava fields. Here, colonies of Hamadryas baboons thrive among the cliffs, while the rare somber rock chat and other bird species favor the old lava flows. The crystal-clear pools are extremely hot, best enjoyed in the cool hours of morning or late afternoon. After relaxing at the springs, continue the drive to Addis Ababa with a lunch stop in Adama (Nazret). Arrive in the capital by midday for your international departure or hotel check-in. End of Tour This popular journey offers both culture and wildlife in eastern Ethiopia. For those wishing to extend, Harar also connects easily to Djibouti and Somaliland (3–5 hrs drive), offering further opportunities to explore cross-border markets and unique regional attractions. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Non-alcoholic drinks

5.0/5I don’t usually like booking tours because of many bad experiences, however, at the time Ethiopia demanded it. I was so lucky to find Melashu’s company. It’s the most transparent, respectful, informative and well managed tour. I did the northern Ethiopian route (volcano, Danakil depression etc) and they managed to make me feel comfortable in a difficult weather environment and very safe in an area of conflict. It’s incredible to have such yummy food in the middle of nowhere! Thank you,

Great tour through an amazing landscape. Tour was perfectly organized, no complaints. Somewhere my shoes got lost but when I came back in Addes they were waiting for me in the hotel. Their service goes beyond. Thanks for that

Just got back from a 4-day tour with Ethio Wildlife and it honestly blew me away. We visited several different tribes in Omo valley and each day was completely unique and eye-opening. The whole trip felt very genuine and respectful, not staged or touristy at all. Accommodations were simple but clean and comfortable, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. If you’re looking for something meaningful and way off the beaten path, I’d 100% recommend this experience. I came back with a full heart and a totally new perspective.

I contacted several tour operators in May 2025 hoping to join a group tour of the Simien mountains but since it is a slow tourist season there were none available. Ethio Wildlife were able to organize a private tour for me at a reasonable cost. They handled everything. The guide/driver/chef/scout were incredibly nice people and it was a pleasure to spend 3 days with them in the park. The guide in particular was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
