Day 1
Your safari begins with breakfast in Entebbe or pickup from Entebbe International Airport, where your private driver-guide will brief you before departing for Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The scenic 8–9 hour drive passes through rolling hills, local villages, and the terraced landscapes of the Kigezi Highlands, with lunch en route and views of the Virunga Volcanoes. An optional domestic flight to Kisoro is available at extra cost. Arrive in the evening, check into your eco-lodge, relax, and prepare for the trekking adventure ahead. Mid-range lodge located near Kisoro (Town) Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 2
Wake early for a breakfast, then transfer to park headquarters by 7:30 AM for a pre-trek briefing with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned to Mgahinga's only habituated gorilla family. Trek through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes depending on where the gorillas nested. Mgahinga's open vegetation makes wildlife viewing easier than dense rainforests. Porters are available at the trailhead to carry your pack and assist on steep sections. When you find the family, spend one unforgettable hour watching: the silverback leading with quiet authority, mothers grooming infants, and juveniles tumbling through vines. Their deep, soulful eyes create a profound lifelong connection. Return to the trailhead for a personalized trekking certificate. Head back to your lodge for a late lunch and well-earned rest. In the afternoon, opt for a cultural visit with the Batwa people original forest dwellers to learn their hunter-gatherer lifestyle, music, and medicinal plants. Mid-range lodge located near Kisoro (Town) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 3
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. These striking primates named for their brilliant golden-orange fur live in the bamboo forests at the lower slopes of the Virunga volcanoes. The trek takes 1 to 3 hours on well-defined trails. Golden monkeys are highly energetic and playful, leaping between bamboo stalks and entertaining visitors with acrobatic displays. You will spend one hour watching them feed, play, and interact at close range – a lively contrast to the calm intensity of gorilla trekking. Afternoon: Volcano Hiking, After lunch, choose one of three volcanic peaks to conquer Mount Gahinga, Mount Sabyinyo, Mount Muhabura, the summit offers sweeping views of the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward, Bwindi Forest, and Rwanda's twin lakes. Porters are available for hire to carry your gear. If you prefer a gentler afternoon, opt for a guided nature walk such as the Sabinyo Gorge Trail or the Border Trail along the Uganda-Congo border. Mid-range lodge located outside Bwindi Impenetrable NP (Gorillas) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
Enjoy a final breakfast at your lodge with the Virunga volcanoes as your backdrop. After checking out, begin your scenic drive back to Entebbe. The return journey offers a final opportunity to capture photographs of the Kigezi Highlands' terraced hills, local markets, and rural homesteads. Stop for lunch en route in Mbarara, famous for its Ankole long-horned cattle and freshly roasted goat. Then continue through the equator crossing at Kayabwe for a brief photo opportunity and souvenir shopping. Arrive at Entebbe International Airport in the late afternoon just in time for your international departure flight. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

5.0/5Andrew and the Usoke Explorers team were fantastic throughout our two-week university trip in Uganda. They helped coordinate transportation, guided excursions, safari experiences and other activities for a group of more than 35 students, and professors. What impressed me most was how easy they made everything. We simply had to show up on time, and they took care of the rest. From organizing activities like quad biking and horseback riding to guiding us through the day-time and night-time safaris, Andrew and his team were professional, flexible, and incredibly knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife. They were also great at helping us spot animals, answering questions, and even taking candid photos throughout the trip. Managing a large student group is not easy, but they handled it effortlessly and made the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free. I would highly recommend Usoke Explorers to students, large groups, or anyone looking for a well-organized and memorable experience in Uganda. Thank you, Andrew and team, for helping make our trip so special.

Over my visit to Uganda, I went on over 5 excursions with Usoke explorers. Each time I was pleasantly surprised by their patience, willingness to accommodate my needs and knowledge of the activities. Through a safari at lake Mburo, ziplining on the Nile or touring Kampala, I always felt I got more than my moneys worth. To Andrew and his team, thank you so much!
