Day 1
Pick up and drive to Akagera National Park
A Lion Safaris driver-guide will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel/residence. You will head to the Eastern province where the park is located. You will register at reception and then check in at Ruzizi Tented Lodge. After lunch, the driver-guide will take you on a short afternoon game drive in the south of the park to search for some mammals such as antelopes, zebras, buffaloes, etc. After enjoying the safari, you will go on a boat safari on Lake Ihema to discover its beauty by searching for hippos, crocodiles, different waterbird species like the African darter, kingfisher, cormorant, fish eagle, and many more. The boat trip lasts 1 to 1.5 hours. Then, your driver-guide will take you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Ruzizi Tented Lodge inside Akagera National Park. Day 2
Full-day game drive and night game drive
In the morning, after enjoying breakfast in Akagera National Park, our driver-guide will take you on a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. Spend your day in nature searching for animals like elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, rhinoceros, lions, birds, etc. Your driver-guide will choose a suitable picnic area where you will have lunch while watching animals. Continue exploring as you make your way back to the lodge in the afternoon. On your night game drive, you can spot nocturnal animals such as leopards, aardvarks, jackals, porcupines, genets, pangolins, owls and nightjars. Day 3
Game drive and local communities visit
After breakfast, a Lion Safaris driver-guide will take you on a short game drive in the south of the park. Enjoy seeing the park's attractions, such as its landscape and animals like zebras, antelopes and bird species. Then, the driver-guide will take you to the lodge for lunch. Later, you will be taken to interact with local communities and join them in some of their daily activities. You can participate in milking cows by hand, brewing banana and sorghum beer, collecting honey from bee hives, traditional dancing, and more. After enjoying time with the locals, the driver-guide will take you back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Ruzizi Tented Lodge. Day 4
Short game drive and drive back to Kigali
After a late breakfast, the driver-guide will take you on a short game drive near the park reception to explore more animal species and birds. Return to the lodge for lunch. You will drive back to Kigali and be dropped off at your hotel, residence or airport. Depending on your flight time, you may return to Kigali without a game drive. We went to akagera park with lion safari and it was so great and a lot of fun. Joel, our tour guide knew all the good spot and a lot of facts about the animal. We saw over 40 elephant!! Emile, the owner, made sure we had a good time. I recommand to book the safari with lion safaris for a great experience.

Great communication. Great Service. Reliable and as advertised. Did a 3 day Gorilla trekking and Golden monkey hike. Gorillas were the star of this trip and Lion Safaris was great at planning it. Emile is a local Rwandan and his knowledge about his country, the history, and about the subjects on the tour (i.e. about the gorillas) was amazing. Would recommend and would do it again with Lion Safaris

When I saw all the 5 star reviews for Lion safaris, I thought that it was a scam! Nothing could possibly be that good?!! Oh but it was definitely that good :) Lion safaris had the chore of organising and hosting us for 5 days through Rwanda, Emile was outstanding in his performance! He was personable yet professional and we felt safe in his hands. Highly highly recommend, both Rwanda as a destination and lion safaris - my only regret is we should have booked longer!
