After returning to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation, you will head out for an afternoon boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This cruise offers one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with Nile crocodiles basking on the shores and elephants coming to drink at the water’s edge. Following your game drive, you will continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes you through scenic countryside with terraced hills, small villages, and lush greenery. The trek can take anywhere from a couple of hours to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ location, and will involve navigating through thick vegetation, steep slopes, and muddy trails. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend a magical hour in their presence. Observing these gentle giants up close as they feed, groom, and interact is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience. The encounter offers a rare opportunity to connect with one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat. After the trek, you may choose to relax at the lodge or take part in an optional Batwa cultural experience.
