Travel across the desert toward remote Afar villages, meeting local tribes and learning about their traditional lifestyle, salt trading, and survival in this harsh environment. Guests help with camp chores such as water collection, tent maintenance, and meal preparation, giving an immersive experience of desert living. Capture stunning desert landscapes, volcanic ridges, and vivid sunsets over the Afar lowlands as you settle in for the night in a basic desert camp. Trek across the vast, shimmering salt flats, witnessing the dramatic landscapes and meeting local salt miners. Guests participate in semi-participation camp chores, helping pack tents and prepare for the journey. Afterward, drive to Mekele for a connecting flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, enjoy free time for sightseeing or shopping in the city.
