Day 1
Arrive in Nairobi, where you’ll be warmly welcomed at the airport and transferred to your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay. After your international journey, take time to check in, freshen up, and unwind in preparation for the adventure ahead. This evening is intentionally relaxed, giving you the chance to rest, recover from travel, and recharge before your safari begins. Tomorrow, you’ll set out into Kenya’s remarkable landscapes and wildlife regions, marking the true start of your great migration journey. Day 2
Travel to Lake Naivasha for a scenic boat safari, gliding past hippos, fish eagles, and vibrant waterbirds as you enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Rift Valley. Continue onward to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at your lodge for lunch and time to rest while taking in views of the surrounding woodlands and open plains. Later in the afternoon, set out on a game drive through this rhino-rich sanctuary, known for both black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, flamingos, buffalo, and occasional sightings of lions and leopards. That evening, Dr Matt Jensen will host a Welcome to Africa Inspire & Explore presentation, setting the tone for the safari ahead. This opening talk invites you to slow down, embrace the journey, and experience Africa with deeper awareness, gratitude, and a renewed sense of wonder. Day 3
Journey to Ol Pejeta Conservancy for two full days of exploration in one of Kenya’s leading conservation areas. Enjoy multiple game drives across this wildlife-rich landscape, home to elephants, lions, rhinos, giraffes, and abundant plains game. Visit the rhino sanctuary to witness frontline conservation efforts, explore the chimpanzee sanctuary to learn about rescued and rehabilitated primates, and stop at hippo pools where these massive animals gather along the water’s edge. During your visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary, Dr Jensen will lead a short reflective talk focused on compassion, stewardship, and the responsibility to protect endangered species. On your second evening, enjoy an Inspire & Explore presentation that adds insight, storytelling, and deeper meaning to your conservation-focused safari experience. Day 5
Continue north into the rugged beauty of Samburu National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch and rest before an afternoon game drive through this striking semi-arid wilderness. Samburu is known for its dramatic landscapes and unique wildlife species such as Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and large elephant herds. The following day features both morning and afternoon game drives along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where wildlife gathers to drink in the heat of the day. One evening, Dr Jensen will host an Inspire & Explore presentation at camp, with the Ewaso Nyiro River as a stunning natural backdrop, adding reflection and inspiration to your Samburu experience. Day 7
The highlight of your journey begins with a short bush flight to the legendary Masai Mara. Upon arrival, transfer to your safari camp, ideally located near the Mara River — one of the best places in Africa to witness the great migration and dramatic river crossings as wildebeest and zebra brave crocodile-filled waters. Over the next three days, enjoy immersive game drives focused on migration viewing, predator activity, and the incredible density of wildlife across the Mara’s sweeping plains. In addition to the great migration, expect encounters with lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hippos, and countless other species. 5.0/5Our 10-day African safari to Kenya and Tanzania was magical and memorable! We are so glad we chose to go with Tapestry of Africa because we were taken care of from the very beginning, from the video call to discuss itinerary options and prompt answers to every question (and there were a lot). The suggested accommodations were beyond expectations (even got the honeymoon suite at one - which was nice since we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary) and the food at each of them was excellent - some offering à la cart and others buffet style, which made for a nice variety during our stay. Albert, Hilda and Matt were there checking in on us prior to the trip and throughout and our guides, Alex and Ernest, took care of us through each of the parks and made sure we saw animals and had a great time. We really loved having the pop-up roof Land Cruiser all to ourselves and the personalized care and insights that each guide provided. We were very happy with the time of year we chose to go - as the weather was not too hot or too cold and not crowded! The bonus of booking with Tapestry of Africa was the humanitarian efforts that the organization provides with dental care to underserved African communities!

We just finished our safari with Tapestry of Africa and overall a great experience. We felt the price was great and our accomodation was very comfortable, especially our last stay in Amboselli at the Tortellis camp. A note to others that there is a lot of driving involved and over some very rough roads so be prepared for that. Also arrival times at some lodges are usually later than expected so again be prepared for this. Having said that we loved it all and were very happy with this company.

I started planning my safari vacation a year ahead and after reviewing several operators, I chose to go with Tapestry of Africa. Initially it was because of the quick response to my many queries, their patience with my constantly changing itinerary and their ability to immediately understand that this was a dream vacation for my family and I. Matt, Albert and Hilda worked with me patiently for 8 months on the most suitable itinerary, best accommodation within my budget and the experiences I was looking for - meticulously planning every minute detail. From the day we landed in Nairobi till the day we returned home, someone from Tapestry was always checking in on us - was the drive ok, was the accommodation ok, how the safari was going, did we need anything….I felt I had a friend who was looking out for us at all times. Of course we saw a lot of animals, of course the places we visited were magical and the experience simply out of this world. Tapestry of Africa was the perfect choice for us. After doing a group tour in southern Africa the previous year we realised that this time we wanted to maximise the time spent in the national parks with the animals so Kenya was perfect. I was looking for a longer trip, around 3 weeks, that was packed with safari days. There were only a few companies I could find doing longer trips that included Tsavo N.P. We wanted to go to Tanzania as part of the trip, specifically the Serengeti and Ngorongoro. I found Tapestry on Safari Bookings as they had a perfect trip listed. Tapestry had amazing communication and flexibility when booking, allowing me to get my dream trip to everywhere I wanted to go for a suitable budget and timeframe. Matt at Tapestry will make sure your trip is exactly what you want, you won’t just be another booking as you will be with some other companies. We also contacted a larger company who were too pushy to get the sale, only focusing on telling us how many reviews they had. We had separate guides and vehicles in Kenya and Tanzania but we had a great time in both. Our guides were both very experienced, friendly and professional (and we had a really great time with them). Thanks to the knowledge and networking of our guides, the overload of animals we saw made sure that our cameras were never put away. We will go back for another trip in a few years and we will talk to Tapestry because they listened to what we wanted and we trust them to deliver a great trip.
