Arrival in Arusha – Relaxation & Preparation
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly received and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Spend the day settling in, enjoying the hotel amenities, and relaxing after your long journey. In the evening, your guide will brief you on the safari plan, discuss photography tips for the parks, and ensure all preparations are in place for the upcoming adventure. Day 2
Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you depart for Tarangire National Park, a sanctuary famed for its giant elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. You enjoy a full-day game drive capturing wildlife in its natural habitat, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, and lions. The park’s unique landscapes provide excellent opportunities for photography, especially during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset. You'll stop for a picnic lunch in the park surrounded by wildlife. Late afternoon, you'll transfer to your lodge for relaxation and evening photography. Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and hippos. You spend the day on game drives, photographing the park’s dramatic escarpments and wetlands. Capture close-up shots of wildlife along the lake’s shores and explore diverse habitats from dense forests to open grasslands. You will enjoy a packed lunch in the park while taking in the scenic views before heading to your lodge for a relaxing evening. Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll enjoy a full-day game drive on the crater floor, spotting the Big Five—lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffaloes. Other wildlife includes zebras, wildebeests, flamingos, and diverse bird species. Capture panoramic shots from the rim before descending, then have a picnic lunch on the crater floor amidst stunning landscapes. You will return to your lodge for dinner and sunset photography. You will depart early for the Serengeti National Park, driving through the scenic highlands of Ngorongoro. You arrive in central Serengeti and embark on an afternoon game drive. Photograph herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and predators in the golden plains. The park’s endless savannahs offer incredible photography opportunities during sunset, with dramatic skies and silhouetted wildlife enhancing your shots. After breakfast, you will head toward the northern Serengeti (Mara River/Kogatende region). Full-day game drives en route offer chances to capture predators in action and migrating herds (seasonal). You enjoy golden-hour photography in the plains and observe riverine habitats where crocodiles and hippos thrive. You will spend the full day capturing the Great Migration river crossings (seasonal) and dramatic predator-prey interactions. Photographers will find numerous vantage points for capturing wildebeest jumping into crocodile-infested waters, lions hunting, and cheetahs chasing antelope. After breakfast, you will drive back to the Ngorongoro highlands for a relaxing day. Photograph stunning crater rim landscapes, local villages, and rural life. This is a perfect opportunity for landscape and cultural photography. You will arrive at your lodge for sunset shots and enjoy a comfortable evening reflecting on your safari experiences. Carla Winston was totally committed in every way to insure we had the time of our lives.
Our adventure began in Ghana and proceeded over a month or more to Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Victoria Falls and Cape Town with other areas in between. We excitedly visited many historical areas depicting the history of the slave Trade and other historical events. Along the way, we encountered and were impressively serviced by a number of tour guides and resort personnel who attended to our every need. The residential accommodations were surprisingly modern and more than sufficient for pleasant stays on the continent, in the resorts and in the hotels. The opportunities to experience the live animals were abundant and close up. I actually touched a lioness and fed zebras and giraffes. My wife and I were able to take numerous and close up pictures, enjoy nature and both a helicopter and air ballon tour. We enjoyed the most refreshing stay at a resort in Zanzibar which proved to be one of the best and many highlights of the entire tour. It proved to be a one of a lifetime adventure and we are still talking about it. And I am sure we will be for a long time to come for it has impacted our impression of Africa.
