Day 1
Game Drive in Mikumi National Park
Start your safari from Zanzibar with an early morning pick-up from your lodge, arranged by Tanzania Offroad Trips. You will transfer to the ferry terminal and cross the Indian Ocean by morning ferry to Dar es Salaam, arriving at around 7:00 a.m. At Dar es Salaam Port, meet your professional safari guide and begin the budget road transfer from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park, traveling via Morogoro town. Arrival at Mikumi National Park is expected at around 2:00 p.m., followed by your first game drive in Mikumi National Park. This afternoon safari offers excellent wildlife viewing in open savannahs, with chances to see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, antelope, and lions—making Mikumi one of the best budget safari parks in Tanzania. At about 6:00 p.m., you will exit the park and transfer to Camp Atupele Lodge, a comfortable and affordable safari lodge, for dinner and an overnight stay—an ideal beginning to your Tanzania safari from Zanzibar. Day 2
Full-day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park
After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will set out for a full-day safari in Mikumi National Park, one of Tanzania’s hidden gems known for its rich savannah wildlife. The day is structured around morning and evening game drives, the best times for wildlife activity and ideal light conditions for photography, offering excellent chances to spot elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and antelope. A picnic lunch inside the park provides a relaxing midday break before continuing your wildlife exploration. In the late afternoon, you will exit the park and return to Camp Atupele Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, completing a rewarding day on your budget Mikumi safari. Maasai Village Visit and Sailing Back to Zanzibar
After an early breakfast at Camp Atupele Lodge, enjoy a cultural visit to a Maasai Boma near Mikumi National Park, where you will meet the famous Maasai nomads of Tanzania and learn about their traditional pastoralist lifestyle. The experience includes Maasai singing and dancing, cultural storytelling by a village elder, and insights into authentic Maasai culture in Tanzania, making it a perfect addition to a budget safari from Zanzibar. After the village visit, you will begin the return transfer from Mikumi National Park to Dar es Salaam Port, arriving in time for the evening ferry to Zanzibar at 4:00 p.m. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Port, a private taxi will pick you up and transfer you back to your lodge, marking the end of an unforgettable Zanzibar to Mikumi safari tour with cultural experience.
