Tour step
You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1
After breakfast, you'll take a domestic flight from Addis Ababa to Semera, the gateway to the Danakil Depression. Upon arrival, you'll meet your local team and set out on a 5–6 hour drive toward Hamed Ela, passing through vast desert landscapes and Afar villages along the way. You'll stop at Lake Afdera for lunch and a chance to swim in its warm, salt-rich waters — a refreshing break in the desert heat. In the evening, you will continue to Lake Asale, where the white salt flats glow at sunset. You'll enjoy a drink as you take in the surreal desert scenery. As this is a semi-participation tour, you are invited to assist with light camp duties such as helping set up tents, arranging sleeping mats, or assisting the cook with simple meal preparation. These shared activities foster teamwork and make the desert camping experience more engaging. Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 2
After breakfast, you will drive to Dalol, one of the lowest places on Earth at -125 meters below sea level. You will explore the breathtaking sulfur formations, visit Lake Assal, and see the famous camel caravans transporting salt. Later in the day, you will continue driving to Erta Ale, Ethiopia’s active lava lake volcano. The journey takes about 4 hours through ever-changing landscapes of lava rock and desert sand. Upon arrival at the base camp, you will rest and have an early dinner At sunset, you will begin a short 20-minute trek to reach the volcano’s crater. Here, you will witness the mesmerizing boiling lava, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After spending some time at the summit, you will return to the base camp to sleep under the stars. Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 3
Early in the morning, you will revisit the lava lake to see it in a different light before having breakfast. Afterward, you will drive to Afdera, where you can swim in the saltwater lake if time allows. From Afdera, you will continue driving for about 5 hours to Semera Airport, where you will take a domestic flight back to Addis Ababa. Mid-range hotel located in Addis Ababa (City) Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 4
Today, you will explore Ethiopia’s vibrant capital, Addis Ababa. Founded in 1886 by Emperor Menelik II, the city sits at an elevation of 2,438 meters, making it one of the highest capital cities in the world. Your city tour includes a visit to the National Museum, home to Ethiopia’s historical treasures, including the 3.5-million-year-old remains of “Lucy”, one of the world’s oldest hominids. Next, you will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Ethiopia’s main church, where Emperor Haile Selassie is buried. After an insightful day, your driver will transfer you to Bole International Airport for your flight home. Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Drinks not included

5.0/5I had the most amazing time in Ethiopia with Peerless. Our guide Mulu and our driver Dave went above and beyond. My friend and I felt very well looked after at all times. We had once in a lifetime experiences, meeting tribes and learning about their culture and history. A highlight for me was seeing the hippos!!!! I would recommend this tour and this tour company to everyone!!!

We did the 7 Days Omo Valley & Arbaminch Cultural Tour and it did not disappoint! Muluye our guide was so much fun and very knowledgeable. Dave was our driver and he was excellent! Muluye and Dave really helped to make our trip memorable. Visiting the different tribes was fascinating! The accommodations were fine and the meals tasty. The only thing I would have done different would be to bring a bunch of pens, pencils, etc to give to the children in each village. I highly recommend Peerless and we are already planning to come back next year and do a tour of north Ethiopia.

The view from Jemma George was absolutely breathtaking — a kind of awe even the Grand Canyon couldn’t quite match. The service provided by the professional guide and driver was outstanding, and now I understand why the company is called Peerless.

Despite a short itinerary, I was able to fully explore a fantastic mix of places in and around Addis Ababa: the beautiful churches and cathedrals, charming cafés, the bustling market alleyways, and even a memorable excursion to the outskirts. The combination of a knowledgeable, friendly guide who provided detailed explanations and a best-in-class driver meant I could visit every place I wanted safely and comfortably. I highly recommend this travel agency if you're looking for an enriching and safe trip to Ethiopia, whether you are traveling solo or as a group. They truly have the experience and expertise to make your Ethiopian journey seamless and unforgettable.
