Your journey begins with a pickup from any Johannesburg or Pretoria hotel or address between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM, reaching Pilanesberg National Park by 8:45 AM. At 9:00 AM, climb into an open safari vehicle for a 3-hour morning game drive, searching for the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo). Savor a delicious lunch at the Pilanesberg Centre, then check into Tlou Tented Safari Camp around 1:30 PM. Settle into your en-suite tent and venture out at 4:00 PM for a 3-hour sunset game drive, soaking in the African twilight. Return around 7:00 PM for a flavorful boma fire dinner under a starlit sky. Morning Safari & Transfer to Bakubung
Rise early for hot drinks, then set out on a 3-hour sunrise game drive from 5:30 AM to 8:30 AM in an open safari vehicle, spotting wildlife in the morning light. Return to Tlou for a satisfying breakfast, then enjoy leisure time by the pool or exploring the camp’s surroundings. Depart Tlou around 11:30 AM and arrive at Bakubung Bush Lodge around 1:00 PM, checking in and savoring a light lunch at the restaurant overlooking the waterhole. Unwind by the pool or indulge in a spa session, then head out at 4:00 PM for a 3-hour sunset game drive, pursuing the “Big Five”. Our first Big 5 Safari Tour was nothing short of incredible! From the very start, the excitement was unreal and it only got better with every moment out in the wild. Seeing lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo in their natural habitat was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide Martin was knowledgeable, passionate and made the whole experience even more special. It’s something we’ll never forget, truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! But we will repeat it as we still have to „hunt“ leopard 🐆 hehe
