Arriving at Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside, guests staying in the Superior Lodge are welcomed into a tranquil riverside setting in the heart of the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve. A friendly team ensures a smooth check-in before you are shown to your superior tent, offering enhanced comfort, stylish finishes, and a private deck to enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush. After settling in, relax by the pool or unwind in the peaceful surroundings. In the afternoon, head out on your first open-vehicle game drive with an experienced ranger and tracker in search of the Big Five. Enjoy a sundowner stop in the bush before continuing into the early evening. Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner under the stars, ending your first day on a perfect safari note. Full Day At Umkumbe Bush Lodge
Your second day at Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside begins with the gentle sounds of the bush before sunrise. You set out on an early morning open-vehicle game drive with your experienced ranger and tracker, one of the best times to encounter predators and a variety of wildlife. After the drive, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. The late morning is yours to relax — enjoy your superior tent’s private deck, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or simply unwind in the peaceful surroundings. For a more immersive experience, an optional guided bush walk allows you to explore the finer details of the bush on foot. After lunch and some rest, head out on your afternoon game drive, ending with a scenic sundowner before continuing into the evening in search of nocturnal animals. Last Morning Drive and Departure
Your final morning at Umkumbe Safari Lodge Riverside begins with an early wake-up, followed by your last open-vehicle game drive. This is a final opportunity to experience the beauty of the Sabi Sand and enjoy memorable wildlife sightings in the soft morning light. After the drive, return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast while reflecting on your safari highlights. You will then return to your superior tent to collect your belongings before check-out. The lodge team will assist with your onward arrangements as your journey continues. Your stay ends with unforgettable memories of incredible wildlife, warm hospitality, and a truly authentic African safari experience. We went to Umkumbe Lodge in Sabi Sands in November 2025 for my birthday and it was the best trip of my life... the place is fabulous, very intimate and personal with incredible location, fabulous drives, great food and amazing people. Lynn ast Leopards Denn was super helpful and communicative. They even sent me a little gift to my bedroom on my birthday! Very nice touch. I would thoroughly recommend them!

We booked our stay at Umkhumbe Bush Lodge through Leopards Den at the end of April 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience. The lodge itself was breathtaking, with luxurious amenities that made our stay incredibly comfortable. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The food was absolutely phenomenal, proudly South African cuisine that showcased local flavor at its best. Beyond that, the wildlife encounters and the depth of knowledge shared made the experience truly special. A must for anyone looking for an authentic and memorable bush getaway!

I saw a leopard in real life for the first time in my life. It's an experience worth more than what was paid. I also saw wild dogs hunt and kill, as well as a playful baby rhino on the second last game drive. These are experiences that money can't buy. It's experiences that will live with me forever.
