Day 1
Arrival and Transfer to Private Game Lodge
Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, you will be met and transferred to Camp George in the Klaserie Private Game Reserve. You will have time to settle in and enjoy a light lunch before embarking on your first thrilling game drive into this world-renowned park in the late afternoon. Camp George offers an oasis of tranquility within the wilds of the South African bush, a classic safari escape, set alongside a dry riverbed and within lush indigenous gardens. Over the next 2 days, you will have a front-row seat to the Greater Kruger wilderness, where you can immerse yourself in nature with game drives, guided bush walks (season dependent) and night drives all on offer. The Klaserie is known for a magnificent range of animals, including leopard, elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, hippo, wild dog and sightings of the rare Sharpe’s grysbok. Day 2
Day at the Camp George
Between the early morning sunrise and late afternoon sunset safaris, spend your day enjoying the serenity of the many huge fever and baobab trees, read a book in the swing chair, or watch the game at the waterhole where animals come to drink through the day. During the game drives, explore the bush in search of wildlife, to learn and understand the intricacies of the ecosystem, whilst mealtimes provide an interactive culinary experience, with fresh produce and paired with fine South African wine. Day 3
Transfer to Simbavati Hilltop
Enjoy a morning game drive accompanied by experienced field guides and trackers, where you may see herds of elephants, prides of lions or even a leopard on a tree branch. Savour a coffee or hot chocolate as you watch the sunrise, then return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, you will depart for Simbavati Hilltop, arriving about 1.5 hours later. Hilltop Lodge offers panoramic views of the untamed bush and the distant Drakensberg Mountains. Below, the expansive Mbali Dam and the Nhlaralumi River create a natural oasis where elephants and other wildlife frequently gather, providing a spectacular sight for lucky onlookers. Each of the 8 spacious and elegantly appointed tented suites, with its own private plunge pool and deck, offers a romantic, airy atmosphere, perfect for soaking in the tranquility and beauty of the surrounding landscape. Late afternoon safaris span across 12,000 hectares of African bush when nocturnal animals come out to hunt and forage. Day at Hilltop
As part of the Greater Kruger, the Timbavati is renowned for its exceptional game viewing, including the Big Five, with frequent sightings of leopard and wild dog. Sunrise and sunset game drives bring you up close to the remarkable wildlife, from the smallest birds to the largest predators. Key to the experience is your English-speaking guide who works closely with a tracker from the local Shangaan community. This duo pool their knowledge, experience and fresh observations to maximise your wildlife sightings. Day 5
Sunrise Safari and Transfer to Hoedspruit Airport
Your final day starts with early morning tea/coffee followed by an early morning game drive, the best time to see the wildlife before the heat of the day sets in. You will stop for morning tea/coffee/hot chocolate and snacks during your game drive, and 3 hours later, return to the lodge for a late, but hearty, breakfast. Then, you will say goodbye to the amazing staff at the lodge. You will be transferred to Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit for your scheduled flight to your onward destination. We’re happy to help with flight timing and recommendations, but since flight prices and availability can change and are beyond our control, we don’t include domestic flight prices in our quotes. We got to see all of the big 5 animals with our guide in Kruger, who was dedicated to finding amazing animal encounters. We had several experiences where it was just us and maybe one other car because our guide spotted the animals or got us to the location where an animal was spotted quickly. Everything was prompt and professional. Communication was great. Highly recommend!
