Duration
6-Day
Accra, Kenya
Discover Mt. Kenya the adventurous way via the little-known Kamweti Trail on the southern slopes, before summiting Point Lenana (4,895m) and descending through the Sirimon Route. Remote and almost forgotten, Kamweti offers stunning scenery with Kamweti Falls, Thagana and Thegu Rivers, and Lake Hohnel. Rich in primates, birds, and forest wildlife, it's the perfect route for climbers seeking wilderness, solitude, and a true jungle-climbing vibe.

Tour step
You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1
We leave Nairobi at 08:00 am and head to Forest Castle Lodge (2,000m) for lunch on the lush southern slopes of Mt. Kenya. After meeting the trekking crew, we begin our 3–4 hour walk through thick bamboo to the old Kamweti Forest Gate (2,400m). This wild jungle atmosphere sets the tone for the days ahead. Dinner and overnight in fly camp. Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinks not included
Day 2
A full day’s trek (approx. 6 hours) takes us deeper into the dense forest, gradually gaining altitude to 2,980m. Our camp lies just beyond the Sagana River, which may swell during rainy seasons, adding to the adventure. Surrounded by the sounds of rushing waters and untouched nature, this is often described as the “jungle day.” Overnight in fly camp. All meals included Drinks not included
Day 3
Today we leave the bamboo behind and climb into the giant heather zone, reaching the high moorlands at 3,750m. Towering senecios and giant lobelias dominate the landscape, with open skies and colder temperatures setting in. This is a long trek (6–7 hours) but rewarding with breathtaking scenery. Overnight in fly camp. All meals included Drinks not included
Day 4
We continue our ascent, visiting the striking Lake Hohnel along the way. From here, the views of the main peaks—Batian, Nelion, and Lenana—are stunning. We then cross into Teleki Valley and reach Mackinder’s Camp (4,300m) for the night in hut accommodation. The air is thin, the mountain close, and the excitement of the summit builds. All meals included Drinks not included
Day 5
An alpine start at 4:00 am sees us climb via Austrian Hut (4,790m) and Lewis Glacier to Point Lenana, the third-highest peak of Mt. Kenya. Watching the sunrise from the summit is unforgettable. We then descend via Simba Col to Shipton’s Camp (4,200m) for lunch, before continuing down the Sirimon route to Old Moses Camp (3,300m) for overnight. All meals included Drinks not included
Day 6
Our final descent takes about 3 hours (9 km) through montane forest to Sirimon Gate (2,650m). Here we meet our driver for the transfer back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon. Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Drinks not included

4.8/5Paul was very helpful in planning our Ol Pejeta safari. Our guide, David, was knowledgeable, friendly, and had a great sense of humor throughout the trip. Seeing the rhinos was definitely the highlight of our safari experience. Everything was well organized, and we truly enjoyed our time
Mercy Ndeto · Kenya
I had a great experience on my Mount Kenya trip. The views were stunning and everything was well organized. Unfortunately, after summit day I had to cut the trek short due to sunstroke and altitude sickness. However, the early return was handled very smoothly, a driver was arranged to pick me up directly in the national park, which worked out perfectly. Overall, despite the unexpected change of plans, the trip was excellent and well managed.

We wanted to experience the very best of the Masai Mara safari, and although we booked just a month before our travel dates, January, the Dreamlike Africa team still managed to make it work beautifully. Though our preferred accommodation Mara Serena was already full, the team at dreamlike secured us a stay at Mara sopa lodge which though ranked lower was okey. Our guide David was attentive, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He made sure our 3-day stay was packed with sightings, including lions on the hunting. Dreamlike Africa turned a potentially stressful last-minute plan into a seamless, unforgettable experience.
Geoffrey Msinga · Kenya
It was a very good experience with our guide Maro. Game drives were nice, we had explanations when we were asking, water was included, we had time and we saw many animals. The roads from Tsavo to Amboseli are really bad in 2026 though. It could have been better to be in a more recent car, more comfortable.
