Day 1
Kigali Nyanza Butare and Nyungwe National Park
You depart Kigali at 6:00 AM for a scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park. You will visit Nyanza King’s Palace Museum to explore Rwanda’s royal heritage, followed by Butare National Museum, the country’s largest cultural museum. You'll pass rolling hills and tea plantations before arriving at Nyungwe in the late afternoon. You will check in at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or similar, enjoy dinner, and unwind with views of the surrounding mountains. Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
You will start early with a chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe Forest alongside experienced trackers. You'll observe these fascinating primates in their natural habitat while listening to the morning sounds of the forest. After lunch, you will experience the Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a suspended bridge offering breathtaking panoramic rainforest views. You'll return to your lodge for a peaceful evening surrounded by mountains. Your overnight stay will be at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotelo or similar. Day 3
Colobus Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Lake Kivu Gisenyi
You'll begin your day with an early trek in Nyungwe Forest to observe the striking black-and-white Angolan colobus monkeys, known for their long, silky tails and playful behavior. Accompanied by experienced guides, you’ll explore the lush forest trails while spotting various bird species and other small primates along the way. After completing the trek, you will embark on a scenic drive north toward Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. The route offers breathtaking views of rolling hills, green tea plantations, and traditional Rwandan villages. Upon arrival, you will check in at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel or a similar lakeside property. You'll spend the evening relaxing by the shore, taking a leisurely walk along the lakefront, or simply unwinding as you enjoy the tranquil beauty of one of Africa’s most picturesque lakes. Day 4
Coffee Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
This morning, you will embark on a scenic boat trip across the calm waters of Lake Kivu to visit a local coffee farm nestled along the lake’s shores. You learn about Rwanda’s world-renowned coffee production process—from planting and harvesting to roasting and tasting—while meeting local farmers who share insights into their craft. After the coffee experience, you'll return by boat and begin your drive toward Volcanoes National Park, a region of breathtaking volcanic landscapes. Along the way, you will stop at the Gorilla Guardians Village for an immersive cultural experience showcasing traditional Rwandan music, dance, and heritage. You’ll also visit the Gorilla Museum, where exhibits highlight Rwanda’s remarkable conservation journey and the biology of the endangered mountain gorillas. After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing before your gorilla trek. You will hike through lush mountains in search of a gorilla family, spending up to one hour observing these gentle giants. You'll begin the morning with a guided trek in Volcanoes National Park to track the playful golden monkeys, an endangered species known for their vibrant golden-orange fur and energetic movements through the bamboo forest. You spend the day exploring Akagera National Park on a full-day game drive, traversing its diverse landscapes of open savannah, rolling hills, and shimmering lakes. We had an absolutely phenomenal trip to Uganda. We had short time due to work constraints and our group was all arriving at different times. Aaron was the best host, he was prompt, easy to communicate with and so engaging. He made the pick up seamless and all the transport seamless. We also got to unexpectedly squeeze in an extra excursion to the golden back monkeys after an epic day with the silver back gorillas which was so special! The accommodations were good and food was fine as well. We really enjoyed every moment of the trip with him and he was very easy to work with and allowed us to stop for photos and other random detours.

Seeing the Silver Backs was a once in a life time experience that Safari 2 Gorilla made happen!
Aron and team communicated clearly from the get-go and were very flexible accomodating our group. We had three different arrival times into Kigali, including a 2:00 AM arrival. Aron was on time to pick us up for each arrival, and had all the logistics including lodging and interim activities to keep us entertained. We then drove into Uganda from Rwanda and stayed at Lake Buyoni for a quick rest before heading to see the gorillas and we arrived just in time for our trek. Seeing the gorillas was amazing, and quite the adventure to get to. Safari 2 Gorilla drove us to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest over some rough roads, but the drive was also beautiful. We stayed at Bwindi, and Aron was to drop us off in Mbarara the following day. We didn't have any time constraints so Aron suggested we go to Mgahangi National Park to see the Golden Monkeys, which was considerably out of his way. Overall, I would highly recommend Safari 2 Gorilla. Aron knows western uganda like the back of his hand, and is an excellent tour guide.

A wonderful experience.
Our group of 6 booked a gorilla trek with Safari 2 Gorilla Tours after being recommended to this company by a friend. We were not disappointed. Aron communicated with us regularly leading up to our trip and helped us plan the perfect trek. We were collected at our accommodation and looked after extremely well by our driver from pick up until drop off the following day. Aron planned our accommodation in the Bwindi Forest which was incredible. Our trek was an unforgettable experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gorilla 2 Safari Tours to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Uganda and all it has to offer.

This was my second experience with Safari 2 Gorilla Tours. As with the first, Aron was an incredibly prompt and clear communicator, going above and beyond in answering questions, which was greatly appreciated, and extremely friendly and welcoming throughout the process. He makes every step clear, and set us up for a truly unforgettable experience in Mgahinga tracking a family of gorillas, being flexible with our travel constraints throughout the organizing. On this trip, my only hesitation was the per person cost for full board at the Gorilla Trek Camp, a perfectly fine accommodation, but based on our experience just a bit pricey compared to options of the same quality in other parts of the country. As a whole, I do not hesitate to recommend this company for organizing your own excursions in southwest Uganda!
