Day 1
Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, begin your city tour with a visit to the National Museum, where you will see the famous fossil “Lucy,” one of the oldest hominid remains ever discovered. Continue to Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa, where you will experience the vibrant daily life of the city. Drive up to Entoto Hills for panoramic views of Addis Ababa and visit the historic churches and former palace area. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony while learning about the country’s rich cultural heritage. Overnight stay Capital Hotel & Spa. Day 2
After breakfast, drive eastward through the scenic Rift Valley landscapes toward Awash National Park. On the way, stop at the Alideghi Wildlife Reserve, known for its wide plains and diverse wildlife. Here you may spot oryx, gazelles, ostriches, and other animals native to the region. Arrive at Awash National Park in the late afternoon and relax at your lodge surrounded by nature. Overnight stay Awash Falls Lodge. Day 3
Spend the day exploring Awash National Park, one of Ethiopia’s most beautiful protected areas. Enjoy a morning drive to awash to see wildlife such as baboons, warthogs, kudu, and possibly crocodiles along the Awash River. Visit the spectacular Awash Falls, where the river dramatically plunges into a deep gorge. In the afternoon, take a short walking excursion to enjoy birdwatching and the scenic volcanic landscapes. Day 4
After breakfast, drive south to the lakeside city of Hawassa. Upon arrival, visit the local fish market along Lake Hawassa, where fishermen bring in their daily catch. Take a walk around the lake area, where you may see Colobus monkeys in nearby trees. Enjoy a relaxing evening by the lake, watching the sunset over the water. Overnight stay Haile resort. Day 5
Today you will continue your journey south to Arba Minch, passing through beautiful landscapes and rural villages. Upon arrival, visit the Dorze villages located in the Guge Mountains. Learn about the Dorze people’s unique culture and admire their distinctive elephant-shaped bamboo houses. Experience traditional weaving practices and enjoy warm hospitality from the local community. Day 6
In the morning, visit Lake Chamo, known for its large Nile crocodiles and hippos. Afterward, drive to Konso and visit the Konso villages, famous for their terraced agriculture and UNESCO-recognized cultural landscapes. Explore the traditional stone-walled settlements and learn about the Konso people’s way of life. Continue driving to Turmi, stopping on the way to visit the colorful Bena tribes. Day 7
After breakfast, drive from Turmi to the village of the Karo people along the Omo River. The Karo are known for their elaborate body painting and unique cultural traditions. Return to Turmi in the afternoon and visit the Hamer villages, where you will learn about their customs and lifestyle. If the timing is right, you may witness traditional ceremonies such as the famous bull-jumping ritual. Overnight stay Paradise Lodge Turmi. Day 8
Today, drive from Turmi to visit the Dassanech tribe near the Omo River. Cross the river (depending on conditions) to reach their villages and experience their distinctive culture and dress. Day 9
In the morning, drive to Jinka through scenic landscapes of the Lower Omo Valley. On the way, visit the Mursi tribe, known for the lip plates worn by women and their strong cultural identity. Continue to Jinka airport and fly back to Addis Ababa. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional Ethiopian restaurant with cultural music and dance performances before your departure.
