Day 1
Arrival in Nairobi – Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or pick-up from your preferred location within Nairobi, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional driver-guide for a safari briefing before departing for the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes you through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley escarpment with scenic viewpoints ideal for photography and relaxation. As you proceed, the landscape gradually opens into vast savannah plains dotted with acacia trees, setting the tone for the adventure ahead. You will arrive at your lodge or camp in time for check-in and lunch, followed by some relaxation as you soak in the surrounding wilderness. Day 2
Exploring the rich ecosystem of the Masai Mara National Reserve
This day is dedicated to exploring the rich ecosystem of the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. After an early breakfast, you will set out with packed picnic lunch boxes for an extensive game viewing experience across the rolling plains. The reserve is home to the famous Big Five and offers excellent chances of spotting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards in action. You may also visit the Mara River, known for its dramatic wildebeest migration crossings during the migration season, as well as hippos and crocodiles that inhabit its waters year-round. The day allows for immersive wildlife viewing, photography, and learning about the ecosystem from your guide. Masai Mara to Lake Elementaita
After breakfast, you will check out and depart the Masai Mara National Reserve, heading towards the scenic Lake Elementaita in the Great Rift Valley. The drive offers changing landscapes, from vast plains to lush highlands, with opportunities to admire the natural beauty along the way. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy a relaxed lunch overlooking the lake. Lake Elementaita to Hell's Gate National Park & Lake Naivasha Area
After breakfast, depart for Hell's Gate National Park, one of Kenya’s most unique parks, where walking and cycling alongside wildlife is possible. Upon arrival, you will explore the park’s dramatic landscapes characterized by towering cliffs, deep gorges, geothermal features, and open plains inhabited by zebras, gazelles, and buffaloes. Activities may include a guided walking safari or cycling adventure through the park, offering a close-to-nature experience unlike traditional game drives. You may also visit the famous Hell’s Gate Gorge, known for its striking rock formations and geothermal activity. Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Samburu National Reserve
Following breakfast, you will check out and drive north towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located in the Laikipia region near Mount Kenya. The journey offers scenic views of central Kenya’s highlands, with glimpses of rural life and agricultural landscapes. Upon arrival, check in and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive within the conservancy. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is renowned for its conservation efforts and is home to endangered species, including black rhinos and the last 2 Northern white rhinos. You may also visit the chimpanzee sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya, providing refuge for rescued chimpanzees. The drive takes you across the equator and into Kenya’s northern frontier, where the scenery becomes more dramatic and less populated. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at your lodge or camp, followed by some relaxation. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive in the reserve, known for its unique wildlife species often referred to as the “Samburu Special Five”, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Somali ostrich. We had an unforgettable safari experience in Kenya, visiting Amboseli, Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Our driver, Cina, is truly the absolute number one! With his 21 years of experience, you can immediately see that he knows every single corner of these parks. He took us to incredible places and gave us the chance to see lions early in the morning – twice we were the very first car in the park to spot them, before anyone else arrived. The lodges were very nice – not top luxury, but still comfortable and charming. The agency handled things fairly well overall, although we were asked to make part of the payment in cash: an initial deposit with bank transfer/credit card, and then quite a big amount we had to withdraw in cash for the balance. Apart from this, everything went smoothly. This safari was a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I especially want to thank Cina, our driver – without him, it wouldn’t have been the same. Truly the best!
