Your guide will pick you up early in the morning (around 4:30 AM) from your hotel in Kigali and drive you northwest toward Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy beautiful views of Rwanda’s rolling hills along the 2.5-hour scenic drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi. After registration and briefing by park rangers at around 7:00 AM, begin your golden monkey trekking adventure. The trek is generally easier and shorter than gorilla trekking, taking you through bamboo forests at the base of the volcanoes. Once you locate the golden monkeys, you’ll spend up to one hour observing them as they leap through the trees and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the starting point, freshen up, and enjoy a relaxed lunch in Musanze or a packed lunch depending on your preference. Begin the journey back to Kigali in the early afternoon, arriving in the city by late afternoon or early evening. Drop-off at your hotel or preferred location.
