Day 1
Arriving to a new and foreign place can be overwhelming. All your senses are operating in overdrive as you take in the unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells of your new surroundings. This is certainly the case for a first visit to Uganda. Your Wild gallery safaris tour guide will be with you from the very beginning, welcoming you at the airport and navigating you expertly through the lively traffic, while you can lean back and watch your new world go by. If this is your first time traveling to Africa, you will never forget your first acquaintance with her. Day 2
Your Ugandan adventure begins at Murchison Falls National Park, the country’s largest and oldest nature reserve. The scenic drive to Northern Uganda passes through diverse landscapes, bustling markets, and rural villages. The park’s centerpiece is the Victoria Nile, which surges through a narrow gorge to create a thunderous waterfall. A boat safari provides an intimate view of the falls and the park’s abundant wildlife along the riverbanks. You will stay at Murchison River Lodge in en-suite furnished safari tents along the Nile, offering an authentic "African bush" experience. For safety, a ranger will escort you after dark. There is nothing more exhilarating than falling asleep to the sounds of the wild, particularly the unique grunts of hippos. Your stay includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Mid-range lodge located just outside Murchison Falls NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 3
The park is renowned for its massive elephant population, large buffalo herds, and diverse bird species. During your visit, you may also spot giraffes, lions, antelopes, and waterbucks, or even an elusive leopard hidden in the trees. A major highlight is the three-hour afternoon boat safari upstream on the Victoria Nile. This journey to the base of the falls offers sightings of crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, and various animals—including monkeys and buffalo—approaching the water to drink. Cold beverages are available on board. Upon reaching the base, you will disembark for a 1-to-1.5-hour hike to the top of the falls. The summit provides breathtaking views, though staying hydrated for the trek is essential. You will return to Murchison River Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, with all meals included. Mid-range lodge located just outside Murchison Falls NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
The drive to Kibale Forest is the longest but most scenic of the tour, passing through tea plantations, village markets, and the rolling green hills of western Uganda. Located south of Fort Portal, Kibale Forest National Park is a dense tropical rainforest boasting the highest density of primates in Africa. During forest walks, you may encounter species like the rare red colobus and black-and-white colobus monkeys. The primary highlight is observing the entertaining chimpanzees. You will spend two nights at Turaco Treetops, staying in private, beautifully decorated cottages within the forest. These spacious rooms feature large terraces for wildlife viewing, while the main lodge provides panoramic views of the canopy and, on clear days, the Rwenzori Mountains. Your stay includes breakfast and dinner. Mid-range lodge bordering Kibale NP (Chimps) without fences All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 5
Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives, and Uganda offers some of the best opportunities to observe them in the wild. During a Chimpanzee Tracking experience in Kibale Forest, an experienced guide will lead you into the rainforest to see these primates at close range. Watching them groom, play, and forage is an incredible experience, though sightings are never 100% guaranteed as they are wild animals. After your trek, you will enjoy a traditional hot lunch prepared by local residents, providing an authentic taste of Ugandan cuisine and culture. In the afternoon, you can choose between a Community Walk to learn about local daily life or a Swamp Walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Bigodi is home to eight primate species and over 200 bird species, including the stunning Great Blue Turaco. Mid-range lodge bordering Kibale NP (Chimps) without fences All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 6
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most visited game reserve and arguably the most scenic. The national park protects the vast savannah plains, bushland, wetlands and forests that lie at the base of the Rwenzori mountain range. Kazinga Channel, which flows through the park and connects Lake George in the east to Lake Edward in the west, attracts a rich array of animals and birds, including the infamous Nile crocodile and one of the world’s largest concentration of hippos. On your first game drive you will explore the park along a 200 Km network of well-maintained game viewing tracks. Accommodation Marafiki Safari Lodge with Breakfast and dinner. Mid-range lodge located just outside Queen Elizabeth NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 7
Safari breakfasts are traditionally served before the day breaks so that you can start your morning game drive as the sun comes up. Sunrise is the best time for wildlife spotting as animals tend to be the most active during the “golden hours”, when the first rays of sunshine come to rest on the savannah. Elephants, buffalo and several species of antelope are some of the characters you may come across today, and if you’re lucky, you may even spot a lion or leopard. Later in the day when the sun is high in the sky and the animals make their way to the river for a drink, we will head to Kazinga Channel for an exciting boat safari. You will spot more hippos today than you can possibly imagine. Herds of elephants and buffalo will also wander down to the shoreline to bathe in the cooling waters. A boat safari is a fantastic way to get close to wildlife and for many visitors the boat safari is the highlight of their visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Mid-range lodge located just outside Queen Elizabeth NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 8
Your journey today will continue south-west toward Kisoro, a bustling town to the south of Bwindi Forest, near the borders to Rwanda and Congo. This is one of our favorite drives in Uganda. The serpentine roads wind through lush rainforests, skirting hill tops (keep your eyes open for the volcanos!) and dipping into lively villages in the valley before arriving to the serene waters of Lake Mutanda. Offering some of the best views in Uganda, Mutanda Lake Resort is perched on a peninsula overlooking a series of small islands scattered across the water and the volcanoes from the Virunga Range rising out of the mist in the distance. Gorilla Tracking is the main highlight of a visit to the southern parts of Bwindi Forest, but you are also in the perfect place for volcano hikes, birding, nature and culture walks and canoe and paddle board excursions. The sunset scenes are unforgettable so make sure to find your way to the veranda in time for sundowners. Mid-range lodge located at Lake Mutanda All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 9
Encountering the rare and endangered Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Half of the world’s gorilla population lives within this ancient, biodiverse rainforest. Led by an experienced park ranger, you will track one of the nine habituated family groups residing in the park. The journey is both exciting and challenging, involving treks through thick vegetation, tangled vines, and muddy slopes. Along the way, your ranger will identify signs of activity, such as nests and chewed bamboo. Depending on the gorillas' movement, the trek can last between 2 to 7 hours. Once located, you will have one hour to quietly observe these gentle giants, whose mannerisms and social habits closely mirror our own. Mid-range lodge located 1-2hr drive from Bwindi Impenetrable NP (Gorillas) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 10
Enjoy your last sunrise in this beautiful corner of Uganda and take a rejuvenating swim in the lake before tucking in to a hearty Mutanda breakfast. Your guide will drive you across the border to Rwanda, and drop you off at Kigali International Airport 3 hours before your departure time. Please make sure your flight departure is after 4 pm at the very earliest. For flights departing before 4 pm you will need an extra night in Kigali, which we can help arrange for you at an additional cost. Not ready to leave this beautiful spot? No problem. Extra nights at Mutanda Lake Resort can be booked upon request, at an additional cost of USD 95 per person per night on full board (shared room basis). Accommodation will not be included but there will be late Breakfast. There is more than one way to get home! Discuss your preferred option and the additional costs involved with your personal Travel Consultant. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
