Day 1
🏙️ Upon arrival at the airport, your guide will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in central Windhoek. 🌎 Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a relaxed introduction to Namibia’s capital city before the adventure begins. You may explore the city centre, local craft markets and cafés at your own pace. ✔️ For guests wanting a deeper understanding of Namibia’s people and history, an optional guided Windhoek and Katutura cultural tour can be arranged. This experience provides insight into Namibia’s diverse cultures, traditions and daily life before travelling into the communities of northern Namibia. ✔️ Visiting local neighbourhoods, markets and township areas offers a meaningful orientation to the country and helps guests better appreciate the authentic cultural encounters ahead during the tour. Day 2
🌎 After breakfast, depart Windhoek for the remote western section of Etosha National Park, one of the least visited and most scenic areas of the park. 🌎 Unlike the open plains of central Etosha, the western region is characterised by rugged dolomite hills, mopane woodland and dramatic landscapes. ✔️ Over the next two days, enjoy expertly guided morning and afternoon game drives in search of desert-adapted and near-endemic wildlife species including Hartmann’s mountain zebra, black-faced impala and Damara dik-dik. Elephant, lion, giraffe, springbok and large antelope are frequently seen around waterholes. 🌎 This quieter region offers an exclusive safari atmosphere away from the crowds while serving as the perfect transition between Namibia’s arid landscapes and the greener river systems of the north. Mid-range lodge located inside Etosha NP (Namibia) Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
🌎 Today the journey continues into the dramatic landscapes of Kaokoland in far northwestern Namibia along the Angola border. Travelling through remote mountain scenery and isolated settlements, arrive at the breathtaking Epupa Falls on the Kunene River. 🌎 Flowing from the highlands of Angola, the Kunene River cuts through one of Namibia’s driest regions, creating a striking oasis of palm trees, baobabs and riverine vegetation. ✔️ The Epupa Falls tumble through rocky channels and islands, creating one of the country’s most beautiful natural settings. ✔️ This region is also home to the semi-nomadic Ova Himba people, renowned for preserving one of Africa’s most distinctive traditional cultures. ✔️ In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic sundowner excursion overlooking the falls and surrounding landscapes while experiencing the peaceful atmosphere of this remote wilderness. Mid-range tented campat Epupa Falls (Kaokoland, Namibia) Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 5
🛖 After breakfast, visit an authentic Ova Himba settlement for an insightful cultural experience. ✔️ Learn about traditional homestead structures, ancestral beliefs, livestock keeping, food preparation, dress and craftsmanship directly from the community. ✔️ These encounters are respectful and genuine, taking place in the natural environment where the Ova Himba continue their daily lives. As you travel east along the Kunene River toward Ruacana, witness remarkable scenes of river life rarely experienced by visitors. 🛖 Along both the Namibian and Angolan sides of the river, Ova Himba communities can often be seen tending livestock, collecting water, travelling between settlements and carrying out daily activities in traditional attire. 🛖 This is one of the few remaining places in southern Africa where ancient traditions continue naturally alongside modern life. Arrive in Ruacana surrounded by lush vegetation and towering Makalani palms along the riverbanks. Mid-range lodgeat Ruacana Falls (Highlight, Namibia) Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 6
🌎 Today is a fascinating journey across northern Namibia from the Kunene River through Ovamboland toward the Okavango River. 🛖 Travelling through densely populated communal areas, experience a completely different side of Namibia rarely included on conventional safaris. 🛖 Observe traditional homesteads, mahangu fields, cattle posts and vibrant roadside settlements as local communities continue a lifestyle closely connected to subsistence farming and seasonal wetlands. 🛖 This region is the cultural heartland of the Ovambo people, Namibia’s largest ethnic group. 🛖 By afternoon, the landscapes gradually change as you approach the lush banks of the Okavango River near the Kavango regions. 🎣 Originating in Angola and eventually feeding the famous Okavango Delta in Botswana, this river supports thriving ecosystems, fishing communities and abundant birdlife, creating a striking contrast to Namibia’s desert image. Luxury lodge located outside Zambezi Region (Namibia) Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 7
🌎 Continue east along the Okavango River into the culturally rich Kavango regions. 🛖 Visit a traditional Hambukushu village where local guides share insight into daily life along the river. 🎣 Discover how communities depend on fishing, floodplains, reeds and river resources for transport, shelter and survival. 🛶 Traditional dugout canoes, fishing practices and riverside agriculture remain central to life here. The journey then continues into Bwabwata National Park and the spectacular Mahango Core Area for guided game drives. This riverine wilderness offers some of Namibia’s highest wildlife densities and exceptional birding opportunities. 🐊 Over two days, search for elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, sable antelope, roan antelope, red lechwe and predators including lion, leopard and African wild dog. The combination of thriving wildlife, permanent water and authentic cultural experiences makes this one of Namibia’s most rewarding safari regions. The nearby Chobe River system attracts exceptional wildlife concentrations, particularly during the dry season. ✔️ These two days combine outstanding safari experiences with insight into how local communities have adapted to life alongside wildlife and river ecosystems for generations. Fishing and river trade continue to play a major role in sustaining communities throughout the region. 🚤 Later, travel to the banks of the mighty Zambezi River for an unforgettable afternoon boat cruise. 🌅 Enjoy spectacular sunset scenery while searching for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and abundant birdlife along the riverbanks. Sandy Colliss · Australia
Prev booked exceptional tours and locations, and lodgings. He took care of all of our needs. He communicated with us through What’s app. This was a great value for the cost.
Judy & Dan · United States
The suggested itinerary matched perfectly with our preferences. All accommodations were carefully chosen and according to our budget. Everything was very well planned and well communicated in advance (driving times, facilities, activities) and there was still room to profit from last minute opportunities. Our guide/driver was very knowledgeable about animals, birds and the country. He was always in a good mood and eager to satisfy our requests and questions. PEA Tours has always been quick to respond when planning the tour. Our Namibian Grand Tour was a wonderful experience and highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore Namibia.
