Northern Kafue National Park

Day 2

Northern Kafue National Park

The day starts with a healthy breakfast. Afterwards we load up and leave Lusaka to head west to the Kafue National Park. This is the largest national park in Zambia. It is bigger than Slovenia. The Kafue River is its lifeline. During the dry season wildlife concentrates along the river and the remaining waterholes. This national park is the most divers in terms of species and habitats. We will explore the park on game drives. An optional boat cruise is possible to add to the day's activities. Our meals are prepared with fresh ingredients and cooked over the open fire. Accommodation is in our comfortable canvas tents. Inside Kafue NP All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

We will drive across the Barotse Floodplains from Mongu to Kalabo, where we cross the Luanginga River on a manpowered pontoon. We will make our way through white powder sand and will reach the African Parks Office after about an hour. Time for some paperwork. Finally. Welcome to Liuwa Plain! The next three days we are going to spend on game drives in the endless plains looking or the Wildebeest and Spotted Hyenas. African Buffalo and Lion were reintroduced into the Liuwa Plains National Park recently. Did we mention the superb birdlife? Accommodation is in our comfortable canvas tents. Day 10

Mongu

Today we are heading back to Mongu crossing the Barotse Floodplains, the huge area that gets flooded every year by the Zambezi River, again. The Lozi people of the floodplains live a semi-nomadic lifestyle. During the dry season it is the grazing ground for their cattle and fertile land to farm rise and other crops. We will get fresh supplies for the next destination. Accommodation is in rooms. Day 13

Mosi-oa-Tunya NP / Victoria Falls

Did you know that Livingstone's Mosi-oa-Tunya NP got Square-lipped Rhinos aka White Rhinos? In the morning when it is still cool we will head to the national park and go on a walking safari. This is our chance to see nature from the ground level, check for tracks, talk about plants and their use. The aim is to find some of the White Rhinos and see them from a close range. After this exhausting exercise we have a picnic by the river. A visit to Livingstone isn't complete without seeing the Victoria Falls. To do this is the plan for the afternoon. Accommodation is in rooms. Lunch and dinner is at own accounts. Very knowledgeable and showed a great love for Zambia and its environment!

Daniel arranged a tour for me after I gave him my dates and budget and an idea of what I'd like to see in Zambia. He responded quickly with a full itinerary and after that he always responded quickly to any queries I had before the trip. Overall, I had about 8 days visiting Victoria Falls, Lusaka and South Luangwa. It was all very well organised and Daniel knew so much about the country and the places we passed through. The highlight was definitely the time in South Luangwa with its fascinating wildlife. Daniel's knowledge here was incredible too and a real bonus. He seemed to know the names, habitats and behaviours of every bird or animal we saw, no matter how obscure! The tour was excellent and the accommodation provided was of a good standard - clean, comfortable but also nicely African in style. Daniel was very flexible and accommodating while on tour. I'd definitely book again!

Excellent safari to Kafue NP with Daniel from Zamsato

I booked a 4-night camping safari to Kafue NP through Zamsato starting in Livingstone and ending in Lusaka. Daniel, the owner of Zamsato tours, was also my driver and guide during the safari tour. It was very easy to communicate with him through emails before the tour to discuss all details of the tour. During the tour he was an excellent guide who knew a lot about flora and fauna of the park so I was able to learn a lot about the nature in this part of the world. Additionaly, he is also a great cook - as I booked a camping tour we prepared our own meals in the camps, from scratch and with fresh ingredients. It was a great experience sleeping in a tent and listening to the voices of nocturnal Africa. I would definitely recommend Zamsato and I also plan to book them again when I am back to Zambia.

Family in the Bush

This was the highlight of our Zambia Safari The wildlife sightings in the park were spectacular. We came to Zambia to see Leapords and we were not disappointed. The accomadations were cozy and the food was phenomenal. The owners victoria and David were gracious and a pleasure to know. Dinners were spent with the hosts and we had a feeling of being with family. What they have given back to the local community is commendable. It is always uplifting to br with people of high character. The guides were knowledgable and a pleasure to be with. The time at camp is unforgetable and I hope to return sooner than later. This was a memory I will cherish.

Experienced and Professional local tour operator in Zambia

Daniel put together an extremely well organized tour which exactly met our requirements. He has obviously built up a network of experienced, reliable and friendly contacts to support him. Highlight of our trip was canoeing down the lower Zambesi - getting up close to the crocs, hippos and elephants.
