Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Morning: Arrival at Kigali International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and lead you to the VIP lounge, assist with all the immigration procedures, luggage collection and later introduce you to your driver guide. Proceed on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park arriving at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, assisted with check in followed by lunch. This afternoon, you have an option to visit the Gorilla Guardians village for a cultural experience. Rest of the day is at leisure while you prepare for the amazing experience the next day. Day 2
Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early breakfast at the lodge then proceed to the park headquarters in time for Gorilla Trek briefing which starts at 07h00. After the briefing and allocation of gorilla families and park guides, drive to the start point of your guided walk that begins at 08h00. Porters are available at the starting point at a small fee - US$15 to assist with your back pack and give a supporting hand where the terrane is slippery. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes, have gaiters, gloves, rain jacket and carry enough water and snacks. You will have breakfast at the hotel, check out and settle any extras before departing to Kigali to connect with your outbound flight. If your flight departs later in the evening you may decide to visit some art centers in Kigali City before heading to the airport. Our booking was originally planned for three weeks – a complete tour up to Gisenyi (for 6 people). Unfortunately, our five-year-old son became ill and was very unwell for 14 days. During this difficult time, we were not alone – you never left us on our own. For this, my entire family would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Everetret team quickly organized a new plan: story time and 🤗 small activities to provide distraction. Healthy children and girls were taken on short outings (not far from Kigali), and every day brought something new. This allowed my husband and me to fully focus on caring for our little son. In the last week of our stay (after the 14 days), we were also able to enjoy a short break ourselves. We will see you again in August.
