Day 1
You'll be picked up by 07h00 at Windhoek Truckport by the shuttle service. The 5-hour (345km) route from Windhoek to Sesriem follows the main road southwards to Rehoboth before turning onto the gravel. It heads in a south-westerly direction to Sesriem, the gateway to the famed dunes of Sossusvlei, skirting the impressive Naukluft Mountains. Namib Desert Lodge is 60km to the north, where you’ll find some of the most spectacular scenery the Namib has to offer. As the road from Windhoek meanders through the mountains, you will pass through the "Window Bridge", which perfectly frames the landscape, into the valley below. The hills are tawny-coloured in the dry mid-year months and vivid green after summer rainfall. After check-in, you can enjoy lunch (on your own account) followed by a few hours of leisure. Around 2 hours before sunset, the Sundowner Dune Drive will start at reception. The duration of the tour is 2 to 3 hours. Driving time: 4 - 5 hours. Mid-range lodge located outside Namib-Naukluft NP (Namib Desert) Dinner (Breakfast & lunch not included) Drinks not included
Day 2
An early start to the day awaits. Much of the day is spent climbing the highest sand dunes in the world. Big Daddy offers a strenuous climb, but the view along the crest is completely worth it. Upon descent, the whispering sands of the Namib lead to the ancient camelthorn trees of Dead Vlei – one of the most photographed areas in Sossusvlei. Exploration continues into the rugged Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge for the evening, but the day is not yet done. The Sossusvlei excursion is a guided half-day excursion to Sossusvlei, including entrance fees to the national park, brunch, and refreshments. The tour lasts 5 to 6 hours. After returning from the tour, you'll have a few hours at leisure before dinner is ready. Mid-range lodge located outside Sossusvlei (Sand Dunes) Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinks not included
Day 3
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and a few hours at leisure. The shuttle vehicle will depart Namib Desert Lodge at 13h00. The 5-hour (345km) route from Sesriem to Windhoek follows the road northwards to Rehoboth and from there onwards to Windhoek. Driving through the desert before skirting the impressive Naukluft Mountains, you’ll find some of the most spectacular scenery that Namibia has to offer. Keep your eyes to the right. Shortly before reaching Windhoek, you will notice the White Marble Obelisk to the right of the road in the mountains. This is Heroes’ Acre, a war memorial built to honour Namibia’s freedom fighters. It is an unmistakable landmark with its towering marble obelisk that comes into view. It was built after Namibia gained its independence in 1990 to honour all those who lost their lives fighting for freedom. Arrival at Windhoek Truck Port is at approximately 18h00. Driving time: 5 hours. Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Drinks not included
