Day 1
Coastal Pickup – Drive to Tsavo East National Park – Afternoon Game Drive
Your safari begins early in the morning with a pickup from your hotel in Mombasa, Diani, or Watamu. You’ll drive inland toward Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s oldest and largest parks, famous for its vast red-earth plains and large herds of elephants often dusted in the park’s characteristic red soil. Upon arrival at the park’s entrance, your guide will begin a game drive en route to your lodge. Keep your eyes open for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species roaming the open savannah. You’ll arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, you'll head back out for a sunset game drive, exploring different areas of the park and enjoying the golden light as it illuminates the rugged landscape. Morning Game Drive in Tsavo East – Transfer to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary – Afternoon Game Drive
You'll wake up early for a final morning game drive in Tsavo East when animals are most active. After breakfast, you'll check out and begin your journey to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a private conservation area nestled at the foot of the Taita Hills, adjacent to Tsavo West. You’ll arrive at Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa in time for lunch. This elegant lodge offers a tranquil atmosphere surrounded by greenery and views of the sanctuary. After a short rest, you'll head out for an afternoon game drive in the sanctuary. Though smaller than the national parks, the Taita Hills offer excellent wildlife viewing, including elephants, buffalo, giraffes, impalas, lions, and occasionally leopards. The sanctuary is also home to diverse birdlife, making it ideal for birdwatchers. You'll return to the resort in the evening for dinner and a relaxing night under the stars. Early Morning Game Drive – Return to the Coast
You'll start your day with an optional early morning game drive to catch predators as they wind down from nighttime activity and herbivores grazing in the cool morning air. Afterward, you'll enjoy breakfast at the resort. You’ll then check out and begin the return journey to your coastal hotel in Mombasa, Diani, or Watamu, with arrival expected in the afternoon.
