Day 1
Journey to Awash National Park – Savannah & Waterfall Wonders
Addis Ababa → Awash National Park (Approx. 211 km / 4 hrs) You'll begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Addis Ababa via Adama/Nazret. You'll stop at Lake Beseka, an alkaline lake teeming with water birds like herons, ducks, cranes, and kingfishers, and keep an eye out for basking crocodiles. You'll arrive at Awash National Park and explore the dramatic Awash River Gorge and thundering Awash Waterfalls, where Nile Crocodiles and soaring raptors make the scene truly wild. In the afternoon, you'll enjoy a game drive across the savannah and acacia woodlands, spotting Beisa Oryx, Klipspringer, Warthogs, Hamadryas Baboons, and a variety of colorful birds. You'll unwind in the evening at Doho Lodge, soaking in the natural hot springs under the stars—a perfect end to your first day of adventure. Overnight stay: Doho Lodge (Hot Springs Resort). Awash & Alidegy – Wildlife Safari Adventure
Awash National Park & Alidegy Wildlife Reserve You'll start your day with an optional morning soak in the Doho Lodge hot springs, surrounded by lush greenery and birdlife. You'll take a morning game drive in Alidegy Reserve, spotting Soemmerring’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu, Beisa oryx, Plains Zebra, and possibly predators like leopard, lion, or caracal. Watch for Secretary Birds, Ostriches, Bustards, and Hornbills. After lunch at the lodge or in the reserve, you'll enjoy an afternoon game drive in Awash National Park, observing Colobus monkeys, warthogs, klipspringers, and colorful birds like rollers, kingfishers, and bee-eaters. You'll relax in the hot springs at Doho Lodge in the evening, letting the warmth ease your muscles after a full day of wildlife adventures. Overnight stay: Doho Lodge. Awash – Addis Ababa – Sunrise Safari & Farewell
You'll rise early for a sunrise game drive in Awash National Park, when wildlife is most active. You'll spot herds of Soemmerring’s gazelle, Beisa oryx, plains zebra, baboons, and, if lucky, predators on the hunt. You'll watch for raptors soaring overhead, cranes calling, and ostriches striding across the plains. After breakfast at Doho Lodge, you'll begin the return drive to Addis Ababa, with scenic stops along the way. You'll arrive at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable 3-day wildlife safari through Awash National Park and Alidegy Wildlife Reserve. Overnight stay: Addis Ababa. I don’t usually like booking tours because of many bad experiences, however, at the time Ethiopia demanded it. I was so lucky to find Melashu’s company. It’s the most transparent, respectful, informative and well managed tour. I did the northern Ethiopian route (volcano, Danakil depression etc) and they managed to make me feel comfortable in a difficult weather environment and very safe in an area of conflict. It’s incredible to have such yummy food in the middle of nowhere! Thank you,

Just got back from a 4-day tour with Ethio Wildlife and it honestly blew me away. We visited several different tribes in Omo valley and each day was completely unique and eye-opening. The whole trip felt very genuine and respectful, not staged or touristy at all. Accommodations were simple but clean and comfortable, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. If you’re looking for something meaningful and way off the beaten path, I’d 100% recommend this experience. I came back with a full heart and a totally new perspective.

Organized and responsive
I contacted several tour operators in May 2025 hoping to join a group tour of the Simien mountains but since it is a slow tourist season there were none available. Ethio Wildlife were able to organize a private tour for me at a reasonable cost. They handled everything. The guide/driver/chef/scout were incredibly nice people and it was a pleasure to spend 3 days with them in the park. The guide in particular was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
