Day 1
Johannesburg to Hoedspruit
Guests arrive at Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport from Johannesburg. A representative will meet you at Eastgate and transport you to and from Kapama Game Reserve. You will have plenty of time to freshen up and eat before embarking on an afternoon game drive into the reserve with your ranger and tracker. You will stop for a sundowner along the way and have the opportunity to stretch your legs while watching the sunset over the distant Drakensberg mountains. As nightfall approaches, the nocturnal animals of the bush emerge. You might observe various species during the trip back to the resort at night. The adept tracker will sweep the landscape with a flashlight, highlighting the animals' eyes. Arrival at the lodge is often around 7:00pm, leaving ample time to freshen up before dinner. Day 2
Kapama Private Game Reserve
You will get up between 5:00am and 5:30am for tea, coffee, and rusks before heading out on a morning game drive or perhaps a bush walk. Because of the reserve's colder temperatures, wildlife is typically more active in the morning, and the softer light makes for excellent photography. After a scrumptious breakfast at the camp, you will have time to relax by the pool, read a good book, and take advantage of the rest of the lodge's amenities. After a delicious high tea, you will go on an afternoon wildlife drive that may last past sunset. The day will invariably conclude with a delightful dinner and a discussion of the day's sightings. Return to Johannesburg
The final day of your safari will begin with an early morning wildlife drive and, hopefully, a few more unforgettable sightings. After the drive, you will have a hearty breakfast at the camp before being transferred to the Eastgate Airport for your return flight. Our first Big 5 Safari Tour was nothing short of incredible! From the very start, the excitement was unreal and it only got better with every moment out in the wild. Seeing lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo in their natural habitat was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide Martin was knowledgeable, passionate and made the whole experience even more special. It’s something we’ll never forget, truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! But we will repeat it as we still have to „hunt“ leopard 🐆 hehe
