Day 1
Johannesburg to Madikwe Game Reserve
Your driver will pick you up either at the airport or where you are staying in Johannesburg. There will be stops for refreshments along the way. As soon as you arrive at the southern entrance of Madikwe Game Reserve in the early afternoon, you will be met and shown around The Bush House before being transported to the game-viewing hide. Following a refreshing swim, guests may enjoy savoury and sweet treats at afternoon tea. The nighttime wildlife drive, supervised by a seasoned local ranger, will shortly begin; thus, prepare your cameras for the ultimate experience in an open safari vehicle. Madikwe is home to the Big Five. It has the second-largest elephant population after Kruger National Park. Following the awe-inspiring African sunset, visitors will have the chance to see nocturnal wildlife with the use of spotlights. Before retiring to your luxurious accommodations, you will dine at the lodge. This is an amazing experience, particularly when served around a campfire in a boma. Day 2
Madikwe Game Reserve
Before departing on the early-morning wildlife excursion, have a hot beverage with the other travellers. The ranger will provide you with fascinating information about the behaviours of different animals and birds as you go in the 4x4 vehicle, which provides excellent photographic opportunities. After returning to the resort for a hearty breakfast, spend some time in the animal "hide" near the Bush House waterhole. Elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and other creatures of varying sizes may be seen drinking, creating some really spectacular images. Join your ranger for an evening game drive later in the day and prepare for more exciting adventures! The day's highlights will be reviewed over a meal of traditional bush cuisine. Following another great meal on your third night in Madikwe Game Reserve, you will go on an afternoon game drive that may stretch into the night. At the end of the day, you will have a delicious meal and listen to traditional bush stories around a campfire. Day 4
Madikwe Game Reserve to Johannesburg
Have some refreshments on the balcony before boarding the open safari vehicle for a morning wildlife drive. If you're lucky, you could get a glimpse of some of Madikwe's most elusive animals, like a leopard or a group of wild dogs, while you're out on this trip. Take a coffee break on the way and observe the sounds of the woodland in the early morning. Be on the lookout for wild creatures as you make your way back to the lodge for breakfast in the open outdoors. Visit the hide in the morning when elephants are often drinking for a last picture opportunity before departing. After completing your packing and checking out of The Bush House, you will continue on a leisurely journey back to Johannesburg, where you will arrive at your hotel or the airport. Our first Big 5 Safari Tour was nothing short of incredible! From the very start, the excitement was unreal and it only got better with every moment out in the wild. Seeing lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo in their natural habitat was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide Martin was knowledgeable, passionate and made the whole experience even more special. It’s something we’ll never forget, truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! But we will repeat it as we still have to „hunt“ leopard 🐆 hehe
