Mt Kenya is Africa's second highest mountain after Mt Kilimanjaro. It is an enjoyable mountain to climb, with stunning views glacial features, and varied flora and fauna. The Sirimon - Chogoria route is the most popular ascent as the Sirimon is on the drier side of the mountain and has some of the finest walking with fantastic glacial scenery and a nice steady ascent.

Day 1
Nairobi - Sirimon Gate - Old Moses (3300m)
You will be picked up in Nairobi and drive to Nanyuki town for lunch, crossing the equator en route to the Sirimon Park gate (2650m). From the gate, you will trek up through the magnificent montane forest, bamboo, and giant heather zone before reaching the high-altitude moorland and your first hut (Old Moses camp 3,300m) for dinner and an overnight stay. This is a gentle trek that takes 3 - 4 hours gaining an elevation of 680m. Budget mountain hut located on Mt Kenya Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 2
Old moses to Shipton (4200M)
After breakfast, you'll follow the track uphill, forking right at the junction. After a water break, you will continue on the track crossing Ontulili River before turning right contouring through the Moorland crossing Liki North River. You'll continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the Shipton Camp. This camp is a surreal setting below the towering peaks and glaciers. The resident population is of rock hyrax and sunbirds. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 3
Shipton - Pt Lenana (4985m) - Mt Kenya Bandas (2800m)
You'll kick off at 3:00 am to reach Pt Lenana in time for the African sunrise. The climb starts on frozen scree and continues on a rocky track with some very minor scrambling. With a good moon, you barely need a torch. Without a moon, then the pollution-free sky bangs on the ground giving you as good a view of the stars as almost anywhere on Earth. The climb takes 3 -4 hours and to add to the exhilaration, Mt. Kilimanjaro is also visible from the horizon. You'll descend to Minto's hut for a full breakfast. After a short rest, you'll descend further to Mt Kenya Banda's along the Gorges Valley where you can enjoy good views of the Temple, Lake Michaelson, Mushroom rocks, and a Giant billiards table. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the bandas. You can enjoy log fires, hot showers, and beds at the bandas. Day 4
Chogoria Bandas - Chogoria Town - Nairobi
After breakfast, depending on how you will be feeling there are 2 options. Either the vehicle can pick you up from Chogoria bandas. Or, you can descend on a broad track through bamboo and virgin rainforest for 10 km to meet the vehicle for transfer to Chogoria town and further to Nairobi arriving by 5:00 pm.
