Overview
This route offers a more scenic experience than the Naromoru Trail and lies on the drier side of Mount Kenya, providing some of the best trekking conditions. The climb takes you through lush forest and up along a broad ridge leading toward the summit. Starting on the mountain's northwest side near Nanyuki, the trail is easily accessible and features the most comfortable bunkhouse facilities in the area.

Day 1
Nairobi/Sirimon/Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp)
You'll leave Nairobi at 7:30 am to Nanyuki town for lunch, taking about 4 hours. You will proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2440m. From the gate, you'll follow the track as it winds uphill through the forest which becomes heathland after about 3 hrs. About 3½ hours from the gate, the track veers right to Judmaier Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight stay. Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 2
Judmier Camp/Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 17km, 900m Ascen
After breakfast, you'll follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses the Ontulili River. You'll go right contouring through the Moorland crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. Your dinner and overnight stay at Shipton Camp, 4200m. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 3
Shiptons/Point Lenana/Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate) 11-12hrs, 32km, 785m Ascent
You will leave at 3 am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving at Mount Kenya point Lenana (6km from Shipton Camp) at 6:30 am, taking about 3 hours. After sunrise, you will descend to Mintos hut (6km), 2 hours, for breakfast and 20km, 4-5 hours further down to Mount Meru Bandas, 2950m, for dinner and an overnight stay on Mount Kenya. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 4
Chogoria Bandas/Chogoria/Nairobi
You'll descend 2 hours and 15km to forest clearance to catch a 4x4 transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village where you will connect with your transfer vehicle back to Nairobi. On arrival get to experience a full body massage optional at an extra charge. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

The communication was top notch, from the moment I requested a quote until the end of the tour. All of my questions were answered clearly and in a timely manner. I was picked up from my accommodation exactly on time and taken to their office to sort out payment and to meet the guide. I had an amazing time at Mt Kenya. The guide was very knowledgeable taking time to tell me the names of the flora and fauna and some facts about each. I would say the tour as a whole was very good value for money, from start to finish was excellent.

Amazing tour - great people and great value - 100% recommended
I was planning the tour remotely from the US and already had a great experience texting on WhatsApp. Once in Kenya everything went as planned from pickup to the safari itself. The drivers Robert and Moses were both amazing. We saw so many animals up close and had the chance to see 4 out of the big 5. Game drives were long and adventurous. The Jambo Mara lodge I can very much recommend. Amazing place. All in all, a perfect safari Thank you

Sam and Kim were fantastic. Good food and lots of interesting info about the landscape and country .
Apart from a lack of clarity regarding the tour fee in sterling pounds( not told about exchange rate changing the stated price), the service was fantastic. I would highly recommend Sam and Kim. Also the company were very kind to hold a bag in their office for me whilst I was climbing the mountain.

A Great Adventure, Back to Nature 5/5 It was the trip of a lifetime. Susan promptly answered all my questions before booking and was true to her promises throughout the trip. I was picked up from the hotel on time and joined the other 5 members of the group. We were lucky to have Simon as our tour guide who made sure we saw all the Big fives and many more animals from real close. My fav ones were the elephant families with their babies in Amboseli Park.I highly recommend taking this fantastic trip that you would rest of your life
