Day 1
Arrival | Genocide Memorial Visit | Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Arrival at Kigali International Airport. Your guide will already be there, holding a branded welcome sign with your names on it. He will then give you a short briefing and take you to the Genocide memorial for a visit. After the visit to the genocide, you will set off North to Volcanoes National Park which will be your home for the next 3 nights. This drive normally takes 2 to 2 and a half hours. Arrive at the lodge, check-in and have some rest and relaxation. Dinner later and a night's stay. Day 2
Gorilla Trek | Iby'iwacu Cultural Experience
Embark on a once in a lifetime adventure. Early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing. Your trek will then commence as you enter the forest. This trek can take between 2-5 hours, depending on where the gorillas were last seen. You will have a very rare opportunity of coming close to the gentle giants of the forest, observing them in their natural habitat and their way of living. It is is advised to wear very light long sleeved shirt, long trousers, sturdy safari shoes and a hat. A porter can be hires if you require one. Please let your guide know. After the trek drive to the near Iby'iwacu community for their cultural experience. You will be told the story of a young man who became a leader in conservation by finding ways for poachers to earn a living. You will also get to enjoy their cultural dance and a tour to their homes, to see how they live and their day to day. Day 3
Golden Monkey Trek | Visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus
Breakfast and head to Kinigi headquarters where you will meet with your ranger for a briefing and then drive to the start of the trek which is 15 minutes away. The monkeys will be easily found as they live at the bottom of the volcano mountains in the bamboo forest, and by following clues of fresh leftovers from eaten bamboo shoot and leaves the trackers, you are able to locate them in less than an hour. You will spend one hour watching these beautiful monkeys closely, as they make huge jumps from one bamboo tree to another which is enabled by their extra long tails that provide good balance. Return to the lodge for lunch and head out after to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus. Explore exhibits that tell the story of our 55+ years of gorilla conservation, visit our gift shop featuring locally made crafts, grab a coffee or meal at the Gorilla Café, enjoy lush nature trails and meet with Fossey Fund staff who have dedicated their careers to saving gorillas. Day 4
Transfer to Kigali | City Tour | Transfer to the Airport
Breakfast and drive to Kigali town for a city tour. Your guide will take you to visit different places like Kimironko Market, Bk Arena, Nyamirambo Women Centre, Rebero view point and more. All these re quite beautiful and informative and will depend on how much time you have before your flight back home. The guide will advise better on where to have lunch in between visits. Later, you will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport for your flight back home. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinks not included
