Tour step
You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1
A Bamboo Ecotours representative will pick you up in Entebbe or downtown Kampala and drive to Bwindi National Park. The drive will take about 8-9 hours to go through western Uganda's major Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale. There are two scheduled stopovers along the way: the first one is at the Equator crossing near Masaka for a coffee break and handicraft shopping. The second stop will be in Mbarara city for lunch. After the short stopover in Mbarara City, you will proceed to Bwindi National Park. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Bwindi National Park. Mid-range lodge located just outside Rushaga (Bwindi Impenetrable NP) Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 2
You will head to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the briefing and cover the basics of what to expect during the trek. At this point, you will be told which gorilla family to trek with. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take a few hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. After the gorilla trek, we will drive you to the lodge at Lake Mutanda or Lake Mulehe area for dinner and an overnight stay. Mid-range lodge located just outside Rushaga (Bwindi Impenetrable NP) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 3
Mount Sabyinyo, or older man's teeth in the local Rufumbira dialect, is one of the revered volcanoes in the chain of eight (8) mountains that form the Central and Eastern Africa Virunga ranges. The third peak of this famous volcano adjoins the borders of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It takes between 7 and 9 hrs to summit this extinct volcano. Because of its rugged nature, several wooden ladders are along the Sabyinyo hiking trail. After the hike, you will drive back to the lodge near Kisoro town or the Lake Mutanda and Lake Mulehe area for dinner and an overnight stay. Mid-range lodge located 1-2hr drive from Mgahinga Gorilla NP (Gorillas) All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 4
Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. This trip will take you to trek the golden monkeys, an endemic Mgahinga Gorilla National Park species in southwestern Uganda. You will enter the forest and walk through the bamboo vegetation and various indigenous plants like giant lobelia. Your national park guide will tell you about the national park's history and the fauna and flora that the park holds during the trip. The golden monkey trek should take about 5 hours. After the golden monkey trekking, you'll transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a sunset canoeing activity. Lake Bunyonyi is about a 3-hour drive from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Mid-range resort located at Lake Bunyonyi All meals included Drinks not included
Day 5
After breakfast at Lake Bunyonyi, you will drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala or Entebbe town. Along the drive to Kampala/Entebbe, there will still be a stopover at Igongo Cultural Centre near Mbarara city for lunch and at the Equator crossing. The drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala/Entebbe is estimated at 7-8 hours. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

5.0/5My friend and I went on a 12 day tour with Bamboo. We started in Uganda and ended in Rwanda. They customized the tour with the activities we wanted to do. Edison, who is the owner, made the itinerary. He always answered my emails (which there were many) very promptly. Our guide/driver was Herbert, and he was amazing!! I actually cried when we said bye to him. He was friendly, caring, knowledgeable, has amazing eyesight and was able to spot animals far away, and was an amazing driver. We really had the best time with him!! This trip was amazing!! My friend and I are both vegan, and we had some issues at some of the lodges at the beginning of the trip, but then Herbert called the others in advance to give them a heads up to make sure there would be food for us. I really can't say enough good things about Bamboo Ecotours. I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat! Very very happy that we booked with them!

My amazing gorilla trek was seamlessly coordinated by Bamboo EcoTours. Every step of the trip, from initial inquiry to delivery, was a breeze, thanks to Edison's clear and timely information. My driver/guide, Amanya, was prompt and friendly and provided information about things along the way on our drive from Kigali to Lake Mulehe and Bwindi National Park. I decided to do the Golden Monkey trek the following day after completing the Gorilla trek, and again this was organised with no fuss. I highly recommend Bamboo Eco Tours!

We had the best week with Fred our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, easy going, kind and had good communication! Edison has beyond excellent organizational skills during the planning process. 10/10 we would recommend Bamboo Eco Tours, thank you for memories to last a lifetime!

Bamboo Eco Tours provided a well executed and professionally arranged gorilla trek experience for us out of Kigali, Rwanda to Bwindi National Park in Uganda. They were very responsive to all questions and requests while initially arranging the tour and made a number of recommendations with regards to activities to include. They provided all needed information for both the tour itself and advance preparation. They were very responsive to questions. In addition, our guide was professional, friendly and prompt. Our accommodation was first class with attentive staff and very comfortable rooms. While the price of the trekking permits is quite high (as set by the government), the cost of the remainder of the tour was very affordable. It was very remarkable to see the gorillas in their habitat - a once in a lifetime opportunity. Would highly recommend Bamboo Eco Tours.
